lzw-eddy's Issues

Buffer overflow in lzw_compress()

I have a case that tries to compress binary data with length 55296 into a destination buffer with size 55296+2048.

During one of the while-iterations, the algorithm causes a buffer overrun at the following line

lzw-eddy/lzw.h

Line 386 in 8a3aa3a

state->tree.node[state->tree.next_code] = lzw_make_node(symbol, parent, parent_len);

resulting in undefined behavior on my machine.

I could fix it by executing the line only on the following (naïve) condition:
if (!((state->tree.next_code > mask_from_width(state->tree.code_width)) && (state->tree.code_width >= LZW_MAX_CODE_WIDTH)))

I'm sure there's a more elegant solution, but it did the job for me.
