obliviate's Issues

Open from launcher with site name prefilled

Workflow

  1. The user types “github” into the launcher.
  2. They see an entry that goes like: “Open Obliviate for “github”.”
  3. On selecting that, the main Obliviate window opens with “github” prefilled.

No Option to Limit Characters/Symbols Used

Would it be possible to insert limits into which characters or symbols Obliviate can use? An issue I've run into is that some sites, such as eBay and PayPal, don't accept a bunch of the symbols that Obliviate uses. I tried changing the cipher key, but most still result in unaccepted symbols.

One possible solution would be a setting that limits passwords to letters and numbers only. In my head, it makes sense that the password generator could replicate the same password each time when given the same set of limitations, but I have no idea what's going on in the backend.

Enhancement: Allow for local key for extra protection.

Hello!

love the idea behind this application.

my only concern is, since there is a web application available, it'd be possible for people to brute force using obliviate.app.

one solution for this would be to allow users to also generate a private key file, save it locally, and use that as well in the generation algorithm. this would protect their passwords from being brute forced via the web.

What is the suggested course of action if the password of a site gets compromised?

This looks like a very interesting approach to password management. Thanks you for your work!

I have a few questions I would like to hear your opinion on.

  • How does this differ from using the same password on all sites? (for example the cipher key)
  • What should a user do if for example their password for github.com is compromised?
