Hi there!

When I found your SuperUser question about this I thought my prayers had finally been answered, but alas, downloading v1.4 and trying it on a very troublesome .lnk sent me back into misery 😢.

Your program can't seem to find the icon file that is obviously embedded somewhere in the .lnk or its target (a Microsoft Word .dot template file), or elsewhere on my PC, since it clearly shows on the .lnk file itself (when placed on my desktop).

Browsing the WINWIRD.EXE application file for icons only displays the new ones since it is Word 2019 and as I'm sure you're aware, .dot files have been deprecated for a long time. But I like the style of that old classic icon, and can't find it anywhere!

I know you're just a poor indie dev like myself who doesn't have the time for these things, but I was hoping you might perhaps be able to point me in the right direction to find this pesky icon file that seems determined to hide itself from me.

I wanted to use it to drop links to a NAS (through VPN) on a users desktop. The NAS ip is different when accessed via VPN.
I can't do it by windows "new link" because the nas is not reachable, and the new shortcut wizard checks it.

When i enter a non reachable target in your app, it hangs for almost a minute, but it works. Maybe you could skip that target verification ?

I would love to be able to use your software under Wine.
What requirements does the Software have?
I know "Mono".
But what other System Libraries (Visual Basic / Visual C++ ?) does it need?

To give you an idea: Often one needs to add Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries. For example:

The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install run-time components that are required to run C++ applications that are built by using Visual Studio 2013 (version 12.0)

But this C++ redistributable runtime exists from version 4.0 up to version 14.0 (Visual Studio 2015)

Or there is the Visual Basic Runtimes up to version 6.0?

Can you possibly point me to any of these runtimes?

Saved me the trouble of having to write my own! Hopefully one day I can repay the favor.

There is an issue:

It can't replace the original .lnk file, you just need to "save as" for this to work.

This would be a convenient feature in Windows Explorer.

If there was the SAVE icon in toolbar it would be quicker to edit shortcuts !

It seems a new version/format of .lnk comes out in Windows 10. With Windows' built-in file Properties dialog, I cannot modify key properties of .lnk file which targets Microsoft Store App.

I want to figure out full target information which is to be used in XLaunchpad to create a launch item.

Interface enhancements :

1 - ABOUT (fix)
2 - RAW + "view mode" buttons (hide)
3 - Recent files list, add option to disable (in a submenu), if never used by an user, usefull.

Describe the solution you'd like

A - ABOUT button is too near SAVE toolbar button, user will errorously push it instead, move it to the verry right of the title bar perhaps ?
B - Add option to not show RAW tab and the buttons to change view style = less cluttered.
C - Recent files is not usefull for everybody, an option to "freeze" list would be good.
