I'm going to rename private methods so that the public interface is clearly defined.

(After this has done with all the major interlocking classes, we can rename public methods to be clearer).

I'm also going to rename internal methods and variables so that the internal logic makes more sense.

I'll be removing code that's been provided that seems half-baked, and re-organizing files from the submodule to include them in our own repo
