The Eclipse Foundation has been a partner in many publicly funded research projects since 2013. We help organizations to successfully create, publish, and sustain an open source software platform, making the results of the research projects available for commercial or public exploitation.

eclipse.org-research's Issues

Jumbotron updates to https://www.eclipse.org/org/research/

Please make the following updates to https://www.eclipse.org/org/research/ (Mockup is attached):

-Add text in jumbotron header "Upcoming Conference: Eclipse SAM IoT 2020"
-Add button in jumbotron header "Download call for papers" with a link to https://events.eclipse.org/2020/sam-iot/sam-iot-cfp.pdf
-Update the Jumbotron background image to https://www.eclipse.org/eclipse.org-common/themes/solstice/public/images/vendor/eclipsefdn-solstice-components/landing-well/eclipse_home_bg.jpg

UXPin-Jumbotron_options

Wrap project bitmaps with a white square

Because we are using the same bitmap on the project descriptions, the fact that the logo is not surrounded by a white, the header of the project is not nice.

(Collecting improvement, we will fix later on)

Improve the layout / size of the Eclipse Logos in a Research project page

Describe the bug
The logo of an Eclipse logo looks really too big in a research project page:
Could we improve the layout of the icons:
image

I would expect to have the same size for both icons: the project icon and the Eclipse icon:
https://deploy-preview-47--eclipsefdn-research.netlify.app/project/repairnator/

We don't retrieve the same issue on this page:
https://deploy-preview-47--eclipsefdn-research.netlify.app/project/agile/

Thanks for your help

Improving the research project page by adding Eclipse project dependencies

Dear Web Team,

We would like to improve the default template for the research project pages to include not only the Eclipse projects that the research contributes to but also the Eclipse projects that the research project uses. This will allow us to promote our projects and demonstrate that the research is (intensely) using Eclipse technologies.

the APPSTACLE is a great example using 7 Eclipse projects and we have a couple of research project which asked to be able to list used Eclipse technologies.

I have attached a possible layout as a suggestion. Your suggestions are of course more than welcome.

This is NOT an urgent request

Thanks a lot for your help

Kind regards

Please add "Resources" section on eclipse.org/research

Please add a "Resources" section with on eclipse.org/research.

Steps:

  1. Go to eclipse.org/research
  2. Add the "Resources" section between the "The Eclipse Foundation is a Partner in these Projects" section and the "Contact us" section.
3.The Resources section should contain the 4 "boxes", ie. Whitepaper, Factsheet, Case Study, Slide Deck like in the screenshot attached to this bug- reference point: the Resources section on eclipse.org/europe

Thank you!

Canonical tag

In a few cases, we copy-paste some texts coming from other web pages.
Susan is recommending using the meta tag canonical, for example:

Can I inject such a tag in the middle of a Hugo text?

Thx

Some images on eclipse.org/research don't show up

I noticed before my last changes that some images were not showing up on the eclipse.org/research.
So I tested locally at it seems to work.

Here is what I get locally:

vs what I get on production:

May I ask you to check it out?

Thx a lot

Improvement of the Eclipse Research website

From https://foundation.eclipse.org/infrazilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3528#c15

On the week of January 13 we had a meeting to discuss the changes to the research page.

Here are @ericpoirier notes:

  • Create hugo website (DONE)
  • Redesign the following sections:
    • Projects
      • Similar to Jakarta EE Projects page
      • Include badges to highlight Eclipse Projects
    • Success story
  • Create Research projects page which will contains sub projects
  • Ask Wayne if we can use a “Research” keyword or tag in the PMI to categorize Research projects

Target: March 2020

When an Eclipse project doesn't have a logo, it is not displayed properly in the research page

I'm trying to add a "friend" project to our list of Research projects: Eclipse Repairnator.
The project is pointing to itself to reference the associated Eclipse project:

title: "Repairnator"
date: 2020-03-11T14:40:29-04:00
logo: ""
tags: ["Automated Repair"]
homepage: "https://www.eclipse.org/repairnator"
facebook: ""
linkedin: ""
twitter: ""
youtube: "https://youtu.be/sHkogNGyBSs"
funding_bodies: []
eclipse_projects: ["technology.repairnator"]
project_type: running
summary: "Open-source and open-innovation platform for automated program repair between academia and research"

The Research project page cannot display any logo. I was expecting it would display the Eclipse Incubation logo like an Eclipse project does. Can we fix that?

Thx for your help

The website doesn't install properly

I tried to update a few files on my fork and wanted to test them locally. The npm install produced an error.
So I tried directly by cloning the main repo and I get the same error during the install process:

Some (minor issues) found in the current version

Hey @autumnfound ,

The result looks pretty good! Thanks a lot.
Nevertheless, I notice some minor improvements that you or I could fix.
https://deploy-preview-11--eclipsefdn-research.netlify.com/
Let me share them with you.

  • When we mention the H2020 instrument on a project, we should NOT show:

image
but we should show:
image
instead.

  • The social links look too big: We should remove the square around a keep only the button below the logo. So for example for AGILE, we could have:
    image

  • And I'm not convinced anymore that we must keep the description of the associated Eclipse project(s) because in most of the cases, it will be described in the project description by itself. So I would reduce the size of the right side bar and add the Eclipse projects there. It could look like that:
    image

  • I also found that the logo of Opees was missing.

  • The Gemoc Studio logo was missing in the project description.

Does it make any sense ?
Thanks a lot for your help
-Philippe
