website-source's Issues

Getting started and other documentation issues

I'm going through the "Getting Started" section of the documentation and all it really does is configure my build.gradle. https://ebean.io/docs/getting-started/gradle

Typically a Getting Started either does a very short tutorial or it links to a tutorial.

I'm banging my head on the table just trying to figure out:

  • What is ebean.mf for?
  • Where do I define my DB conenction(s)?

Maybe the issue is just the layout of the website? When I click a link on https://ebean.io/docs/ it sometimes takes me to a page with more subpages, sometimes not. There doesn't appear to be a master table of contents. Furthermore, as I navigate through the docs, sometimes the right sidebar links change without warning; introducing even more pages or removing some.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to Contribute to Documentation

I have added some helpful notes to the documentation but I do not seem to have the permissions required to push a branch. Any thoughts on this?

Broken links

I've notice a few places where links lead to a 404.

On /docs/query/select the link to https://ebean.io/docs/query/dto does not exist.

references to findFutureRowCount should be change findFutureCount

references to findFutureRowCount should be change findFutureCount

this is still showing up in the latest version of the documentation - https://ebean.io/docs/query/findPagedList

image

Query.findFutureRowCount() to determine total row count, total page count etc.

as the method has now been changed to findFutureCount
ebean-orm/ebean#826

this also happens in couple of other places

Website LogBack Configuration

The Logback configuration found under First entry, is in error, as it is not wrapped in a root element (ie. <configuration>). Even so, this does not result in any useful logs.

The Logback configuration given in minimal example does work as expected.

I realize that keeping documentation and code in sync is a tedious task, but given that the website is a 24x7 "sales rep" for Ebean, it should be important to do so. Case in point, I directly one of my clients to Ebean, who became disenchanted while running into errors when following Getting Started.
