On a windows machine, get a compute working in a virtual machine. I like openbox, but it could be whatever. Once Issue #1 is done, this should be a little easier. Also will be helped if I write a metapackage for my own favorite things like:

• openbox
• xterm
• zsh
• firefox
  • support plugins for basic browsing
• various dotfiles with defaults I like

Although not as popular as a virtual machine these days, it shouldn't be too bad to make a metapackage for cygwin implementations. Though I don't recall if tmux works at all with cygwin. If not, cancel this issue.

At some point, do I want something like Puppet for handling these tasks?

Similar to Issue #1, but for ubuntu. I probably will have to make these separate. I would just have one text file with the packages and then scripts to read them into whatever distribution, but different distributions have different names for packages. Sort out how apt-get likes user packages to be.

Write an AUR metapackage that depends on all the things for the workflow:

• ipython
• python3
• vim
• slimux-git
• tmux
• numpy
• etc
