@noizfactory @pranaymeher, I may want to have some convos about this to make sure I get some targets right here.

I'll check out your node Daniel

Haven't implemented it in the node yet.
More curious about how you would expect to deal with blendshape data when creating it for Bifrost.
Would you

  • Expect to input multiple meshes (as an array) into the dl_mesh_object compound, each with the matching "blend" group in it?
  • Expect to input just the have an array of meshes, that ARE the "blend" group's faces, and those are put in
  • Would you expect a UI/Tool to help with this?
  • Is there some other way that I'm not thinking about?

I think a UI would be required. Because if you add any new mesh into an array, it should also create a respective input 'weight' attribute to allow manipulation of the target weight values. The UI would take care of that. I can't think of a way this can be achieved using only bifrost.

@pranaymeher take a look at the blends-dev branch.

I’ve added basic support for blend shapes as well as a new dl_blend_deform. I’m using a new data type I created for the blend deformed, which you can create with a value node. Let me know what you think of The first pass.

@dtlindsey I have got the blends-dev on my local now but I'm bit clueless how to use the dl_mesh_object. Can you create an example file please? I opened your basic_deformer_setup.ma file but I guess it's not working.

@pranaymeher just added an example file. @noizfactory it'd be great to get your opinion on this as well. You've been using Bifrost for longer than I have. How does this feel to use?
