I thank you for your work but i wonder why you decide to make it compatible io7 or greater.
In fact , all you have to do is change the method getTextHeight to be compatible with io6:

First of all, this is a great control!
It would be nice to drop a pin at the coordinates location in the mapview.

Is there a way to add a Segment Control instead of an image or map?

could you plz add the ability to get the tag of the item not just the selected index,
becasue in some case we may put the samer number of button item but with diffreent functionality,
its realy important so we can differate them
