I have thought about it, definitely, but I also don't want the particular overhead of maintaining another package (and would it be under the Django organisation? or me personally?), so right now I am undecided...

Agree with @toejough - I've got a project that heavily relies on pika, but that library is callback based and synchronous only. Your async_to_sync/sync_to_async wrappers are a brilliant workaround. You should definitely consider spinning these out as they are useful in a wide variety of situations where you want synchronous libraries to play nicely with asyncio. Anyway just my $0.02. - great work regardless!

Having given more thought to this, I don't think asgiref
is a big enough library (nor one that brings enough baggage) to do this, so I'm going to close this (plus those functions integrate just enough into the other parts of the library, like the local
module).
