I was pleasantly surprised by the announcement of the Linux Transceiver. Thought it would be a welcome addition to my arsenal. Installed it according to the description on an Raspberry Pi 400 with a PiSDR card. It started with the opening screen, but didn't get any further after doing the configuration. Redid it on another SD card with latest Buster installed, same problem, but now I got as far as a spectrum and waterfall with multiple symmetrical peaks, updating once every two seconds. Burned a new SD card with 21-03-04 Buster, again same result. Used two different Pluto's (both rev B), and USB-Dongle. Audio loop worked, although with an annoying hum, RF loop didn't. Also the settings for the frequencies were lost every time at restart of the app. On install I didn't get any errors, only warnings about Jack daemon not installed. At startup also warnings that Jack server didn't startup. But Alsa worked, so probably shouldn't be a problem Any idea what might be wrong?

Ich habe versucht auf dem Raspi , auf die neuste Version upzudaten. Habe das alte Verzeichnis umbennent und folgendes im Terminal eingefügt:

leider hat das nicht funktioniert.

Hallo Kurt,
ich habe den AMSAT-LINUX-TRANSCEIVER aufgebaut und betreibe ihn mit einem ADALM-PLUTO, der ca. 4 Jahre alt ist. Das funktioniert sehr zufriedenstellend.
Wenn ich den ADALM-PLUTO durch ein aktuelles Modell (Rev C) ersetze, dann überschreiten die Spektren der Signale das obere Limit der Grafik deutlich.
Vielleicht wird beim neuen Model des PLUTO die Rx-AGC per Software nicht aktiviert?
Kannst Du mir bitte eien Tipp geben, was ich tun muss, damit die Spektren innerhalb der vorgegebenen, vertikalen Begrenzungen bleiben?

In October, we will participate in a "TecDay" in a high school (15-18 years) with a module on satellite communications. After a short theoretical introduction, we will set up a simple outdoor station to receive QO-100 SSB (dish, lnb, rtl-sdr dongle and SDR#). The goal is to get them interested in our hobby and to encourage them to reproduce the station at home with a guide that we will provide.

It would be great to be able to replace SDR# with software created by an OM with a receive-only version of your software running on a RPI 4 using an RTL-SDR dongle.

What do you think of this request?

Ich habe verschiedene Dinge ausprobiert, LogiLink USB-Soundkarte UA0053 mit Computer Headset, einem Rode NT-1A USB Mikrofon, aber irgendwie bin ich noch nicht zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. Teilweise waren die Signale übersteuert, zu leise, oder
irgendwelche Nebengeräusche wurden mit übertragen.

Wie sind eure Erfahrungen/Empfehlungen?

I like this S/W very much! Trying to incorporate a PTT using F5OEOs firmware, I failed numerous times so far. I've tried almost all versions of his code, that I could get hold of. I can either use the GPO-connected PTT, or the transceiver. Never both together. When PTT works, the reciever shows some "white noise" in an unknown frequency band.
Any hints towards a solution will be very welcome. Kind Regards and

Bravo for this well done software.
I started using it on an ACER SPIN 5 laptop, I7-8550U 1.80 GHz x 8, 8 GiB of memory with ubuntu 20.04.02 LTS.

The program runs correctly for about 5 min., then the GUI freezes, the sound also cuts out, loops and then the laptop crashes...
On the console, I see a message: underflow xxx.

Running System Monitor, I found that the memory was filling up steadily from 1.1 GiB to the maximum available 7.7 GiB... generating the problems described above I presume.

I am at your disposal if you need more information.

Da du geschrieben hast, dass du eine Odroid C4 für diesen Zweck betreibst, wollte ich dies auch einmal testen.
Habe ein Odroid C4 mit Ubuntu 20.04 und deiner QO100_Transceiver Software 1.65 installiert.
Wenn ich das Programm starte, mit der schnellsten Wasserfallauflösung, stürtzt das Programm immer nach kurzer Zeit ab bzw. es friert ein, so dass man das Programm neu starten muss.
Da ich mit diesem Odroid C4 keinerlei Erfahrung habe, stelle ich hier die Frage, ob das bei dir auch der Fall ist?

Nun wollte ich ein update machen und bin Schritt für Schritt nach deiner Anleitung gegangen.

Glückwunsch zu diesem gelungenen Programm . Ist es richtig , das eine Internetverbindung benötigt wird damit das Programm startet ?
Mir ist dies heute beim testen auf dem Balkon aufgefallen. Wenn keine Verbindung zum Internet besteht , kriege ich es absolut nicht gestartet. Das ist natürlich sehr schade. Aber vielleicht lässt sich das ändern.

... und erstmal vielen Dank für das tolle Projekt und den mittlerweile recht gut funktionierenden TRX.

Bei mir läuft der TRX in der Version 1.72 auf einem Raspberry Pi4 (und auch unter 3+) unter dem OS "Bullseye" mit einem aufgesteckten Mini-Touchscreen (waveshare o.ä.) mit 480x360 Pixeln. Die Darstellung ist gerade noch ausreichend, ABER es gibt ein paar unnötige Darstellungsprobleme: An einigen Stellen (z.B. PTT-Button) ist die Schrift zu groß und wird abgeschnitten. Ebenso die Frequenzen links im Spektrum, wenn eine Kommadarstellung hinzukommt.
Regelrecht störend empfinde ich das (im Verhältnis) zu laute RX-Audio (Echo) beim TX Betrieb, was sogar z.T. bei einem Headset (Sennheiser PC8) noch zu Rückkopplungen führen kann. Da wäre wünschenswert eine Einstellmöglichkeit oder grössere Absenkung des RX-Pegels während TX.
Schön wäre auch ein TX-(Mic-)Equalizer. Ich nutze derzeit als Ersatz das "Pulseaudioeffects", was noch gut mit dem PI4 läuft, allerdings anfänglich Installationsprobleme mit einigen Plugins machte.
Last but not least wären ein paar (z.B. 3) Frequenz-Speicher schön, um feste QRGs abzuspeichern. Sowas - und ggf. einige Einstellungen könnte man ja ggf. in einer editierbaren Datei im home- oder Programmverzeichnis ablegen?

Ansonsten ein wirklich schönes und gelungenes Projekt und bei mir auf dem Wege zur Zweitanlage zu werden.

Hi - I was very pleased to see a Linux QO-100 application. I have used Sdrangel on linux to transmit and receive on QO-100 which worked - but in the end I ended up using SDRConsole on Windows as it supported beacon tracking easily.

I installed QO100_Transceiver on a Debian 10 Buster install on an I3 laptop and the install went OK - I had to apt install a missing gtk theme but that was the only issue.

The first problem is that I cant resize (or reduce/expand) the program window and there is only a "X" to close option on the applications window - this means I can't see the bottom row with all buttons on it - I got around this by using ALT+F7 and dragging the window and ten resizing it but this is really inconvenient as bits of the profgramme view are "chopped off"

The other issus are -

The configuration after initial setup and calibration is not saved for the next time the programme is run

I'm using a ADALM-PLUTO (with original firmware) over etherent and receive works- but I can't transmit (I know it works fine with Sdrangel in linux and SDRConsole in Windows. Audio and rf loopback both work fine. I think I can just about hear my signal on the downlink but I think the output rf level from the pluto is far too low . I understand other programmers have had this issue, I have a portable station with 1.8 W and a 60 cm dish so I need as much rf output from the pluto as possible. On SDRConsole the output level is set at about 88% to ensure I don't overdrive the next rf amplifier.

If these issues could be fixed and perhaps some frquency correction for lnb frequency drift (perhaps tracking the beacons) and a signal meter for alignment this would be a great option for portable QO-100 operation.

erst mal vielen Dank für die tolle Software! Trifft genau meinen Geschmack ;)

Mir ist aufgefallen das mein TX-Signal nicht sehr sauber ist. Es gibt Intermodulationsprodukte neben dem Sendespektrum. Beim Sprechen ist das relativ gering und nicht extrem stark hör- und sichtbar. Beim "pfeifen" gibt es aber sehr unschöne Nebensignale mehere kHz rechts und links neben der Sendefrequenz.

Ich habe schon eine ganze Reihe USB-Mikrofone getestet und auch stundenlang mit den Audioeinstellungen herumprobiert. Besserung gibt es erst wenn das Signal so leise ist das man es kaum noch lesen kann. Das ist also keine Lösung.

Normalerweise würde ich nun auf Unlinearitäten im Sendezweig/PA tippen. Allerdings läuft das Setup (Pluto + AMSAT 6W-Endstufe + 190cm Spiegel) mit der SDR-Console absolut perfekt und wunderschön sauber! Ich kann (natürlich nur versuchsweise und nur bis zur Grenze der CW-Bake) fast alle Regler bis zum Anschlag stellen und das dann sehr starke Sendesignal hat immer noch ein perfektes Spektrum und auch beim "pfeifen" keinerlei unerwünschte Nebenaussendungen.

Die Linux-Transceiver-Software hingegen hat auch bei deutlich geringeren Pegeln ein unsauberes TX-Signal. Was mache ich falsch?

vielen Dank für die Version 1.72. Das TX-Signal ist nun ein wenig stärker (Mic-Boost=10), auch das Problem mit den Übersteuerungen/Intermodulationsprodukten scheint gelöst zu sein.

Im Vergleicht zu SDR-Console ist das TX-Signal allerdings immer noch deutlich schwächer (bei gleichem Setup und gleichem Mikrofon). Ich vermute das es u.a. auch am Audiofrequenzgang liegt. Meine zahlreichen USB-Mikrofone machen meist im unteren Drittel des Spektrums noch ein halbwegs passables Signal; die oberen zwei Drittel sind hingegen sehr schwach (sieht man auch sehr schön im Wasserfall). Und das hört sich dann natürlich entsprechend "dünn" an.

Wenn ich in der SDR-Console die höheren Frequenzen deutlich anhebe erreiche ist ein perfekt durchmoduliertes und lautes Signal. Vielleicht fehlt ja genau eine solche Möglichkeit um mit Deinem Programm vergleichbare Ergebnisse zu bekommen.

Guten Abend,

hier der Hartmut, DL8YBQ aus Herten.

Den ganzen Abend versuche ich den QO100 Transceiver auf einem Raspberry 3b+ zum laufen zu bekommen. Es scheitert wohl an der fehlenden trxdriver Datei. Mehrmals alles neu installiert, jedoch ohne Erfolg. Ich bin für jeden Tipp, ggf. auch zum Thema Soundkarte, dankbar. Der Pluto ist per USB mit dem Raspi verbunden.

Hallo,
ich benutze die Version 1.72.
Unter Einstellungen erscheinen keine Soundkarten, unter Lautsprecher/Kopfhörer kann ich nur zwischen "Interes Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI)" und "Internes Audio Analog Stero" auswählen. Unter Mikrofon Mikrofon erscheint nur "no sound device available".
Pulseaudio ist aber installiert, was mache ich falsch?
Außerdem ist der Receiver nach dem Start grundsätzlich stumm. Erst wenn ich Einstellungen öffne und dann auf OK klicke, habe ich einen Ton.

At my Plutosdr (Rev. C)is TX1 defective, So I want to change the transmitting Port to TX2 (B)

I have made a Quick test, Changing at the pluto_setup.cpp the line from txcfg.rfport = "A"; to txcfg.rfport = "B"; But this was not a solution, the transmit power is still routed to TX1.

Where is the transmitting port configured? how Could I change it?

Guten Tag,

gibt es ein Empfehlung für das Betriebssystem auf dem Odroid N2? Eine erste Installation mit ubuntu-20.04-4.9-mate-odroid-n2-20210126 Image zeigte zwar erste Erfolge nach der Installation des QO100_Transceivers, aber leider stürzt die Anwendung nebst dem Rechner nach ca. 3 Minuten komplett ab. Hier hilft dann nur noch den Stecker am Odroid ziehen. Ich suche ein einfaches Images welches jedoch alles an Bord hat, was der Transceiver benötigt.
