discovermeteor_ja's Issues

@SachaG Seems it's almost done but I can contribute as native Japanese speaker with a devotion of meteor!

chapter 7.5 (latency compensation)

hello all,

i'm a native japanese web developer, planning to use meteor for my next project. i truly appreciate this translation project as it helped me tremendously to familiarize myself with this fascinating new framework. i've noticed that chapter 7.5 is still left untranslated, i could do that for you if you give me the access to the english source. to be honest, i'm usually not a "contributor" kind of person but i really want to read it myself, so it's more like a "give and take" thing... let me know if you need it.

peace,
-tatsu

workflow for non-developers?

@SachaG I had a couple of people email me and someone has made huge progress with the japanese translation.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B3NKQUsJ7bKsZ0l3YmxuaTlJR1k&usp=gmail

however, they aren't developers so not sure of the whole workflow with pull requests etc.

I'm sure you considered this but is there too much overhead in setting up a web based UI for managing the crowd-sourced translations? this would significantly lower the barrier for non-devs to contribute a few strings here and there, and also not step on each other's work.

For meteor I've seen Gadi's https://github.com/gadicc/meteor-messageformat project which gives a way to manage all the strings like this: http://messageformat.meteor.com/translate
It also tracks updates etc.

There maybe other tools out there (non meteor) too and I guess various platforms that are also free to use for open source:

Change jp to ja?

I got it wrong when I created the Japanese repo and used the wrong language code.

Do you think I should change jp to ja everywhere (repo name, domain, etc.) or is it just not worth it?

It would probably take me an hour or so altogether, so it's not like it's a huge deal. Just wondering :)

Contributors?

hi @SachaG not sure if this is the place to post, but following the Guidelines. I'm not a native japanese speaker but should be able to help a bit here and there to get the ball moving. I'm surprised there's NO japanese support so far...

How to track the version of the corresponding source material?

Discover Meteor is an ongoing work. The original will receive updates and improvements even after we complete the translation. The translation needs to be updated too.

It would be useful, when updating, to be able to view the diff between the latest source and the translated one.

Would it be feasible to make it a rule to record the commit hash of the English source file in the YAML front matter? Something like:

source: af85563fad385506e695e1f7c27ace005883d24b
