repairtasks's Issues

One thing to add

I have one thing for you to add. Several cleanup utilities (even ccleaner at one time) remove the windows\system32\logfiles\scm folder. This results in selected task "{0}" no longer exists errors within Task Scheduler. The fix is to recreate the missing folder and reboot. If you could add a check for this, that would be wonderful.

Build failure: missing Properties/Resources.resx

So, when I try to build this in VS 2013 or 2015, I get an error along the lines of:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\12.0\bin\Microsoft.Common.CurrentVersion.targets(2584,5): error MSB3552: Resource file "Properties\Resources.resx" cannot be found.

There's also some sort of complaint about System.Xaml not being found (apparently it doesn't actually exist until .NET 4.0), but that seems to just be a warning.

Multiple Task Scheduler errors after Windows 10 Anniversary upgrade

Same multitude of problems with with Task Scheduler occur after upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary edition. Machine was originally upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Pro, and seemed to run well for six months or so - until upgrade to Win10 Anniversary edition. Any chance that the Repair Tasks utility will be extended for Windows 10? As with the Win7 and Win8 situation, large number of errors begs for an automated solution. Judging from the growing number of complaints throughout the Internet - seems that just as many users have been blindsided by the issue as was the situation with regression to earlier Windows versions.

Missing .exe

Hi
When I download and unzip the current release there does not seem to have an executable included, and when I hover on each item within extracted files there are none that I can run,(images below).
Thanks for your help.

Task image corrupt

Hello -
I have completed your most welcome and helpful procedure but have 16 tasks remaining. Of these only 5 are 'image corrupt' the remaining are 'not installed' and so to be ignored according to your previous comments.

Despite reruns using unzipped files I cannot correct the 5 remaining. Any suggestions as to why this happens?

Much appreciation for your initiative with this program

Cannot find RepairTasks.exe or other files needed

Hey not sure if i am just using Github wrong or what, but I download the zip but it is named RepairTasks-master (master node for the code) but inside there are no exe's if you could help me that would be great. Also your walkthrough discusses another file needed for windows 7 but links back to the other repo that no longer has the files. Thanks again.

Issues not resolved

I mistakenly downloaded Windows 10, then reverted back to 8.1
Yesterday, I used Tweaking Utility; some issues were not resolved.
The Task Scheduler doesn't work.

I ran Repair Tasks as directed, no errors were resolved.
I ran Repair Tasks again, no errors were resolved.

I've included a screen capture to help diagnose the issue.

The most likely scenario is to perform a complete System Restore from the laptop CD.

I hope to hear from you.

Thank you.

Backup won't run after running utility

I had the same problem as everyone else after reverting from Win 10 pro 64 bit back to win 7 ultimate 64 bit. The utility seemed to restore all my tasks, but when I attempted to run a backup I got an error as follows "Windows backup failed while determining libraries location of one of the users included in backup.
Details: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. error code 0x81000031"
Any ideas to fix this. Thanks!

Option to blank out tasks in registry (after backing them up)

I had a problem with my Task Scheduler, and, at first, your program didn't seem to help. But I wound up getting it to work by finding the tasks in the registry (at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tasks. and .\Tree) and deleting them (after backing them up) and then using the Scan and Repair options in your program. To my surprise, this finally fixed the issue.

So I thought it might be nice if you could offer a way to automatically perform this feature. It would probably be prudent to backup the registry entries in a .reg file, just in case. But a "wipe tasks from registry and rebuild" might be useful for some users.

Or, at the very least, maybe a button that would open regedit at the correct location so people could mess with the tasks themselves if your program doesn't work at first.

Cannot scan in repair tasks 3.3?

When I click on scan in your repair tasks software I get the following message. scan terminated by unexpected error access to path c:\windows\system32\tasks is denied. How can this be corrected so I can complete a scan. yes all the task scheduling errors must have occurred when I switched back from upgrading to windows 10 back to windows 7. Thanks for your help!
