This repository contains Android client sample code for the "Build a Mobile App Using Firebase and App Engine Flexible Environment" solution. Sample backend code can be found here.
- Enable the following services in the Cloud console: https://console.cloud.google.com
- Google App Engine
- Google Compute Engine
- Sign up for Firebase and create a new project in the Firebase console.
Firebase is a Google product, independent from Google Cloud Platform.
Build and test environment (verified)
- Android Studio 2.2 Preview 1
- Marshmallow API Level 23, x86_64, Android 6.0 (with Google APIs)
- UI layout is optimal for Nexus 5.
- Login to Firebase console and click "Add Firebase to your Android app".
- Follow instructions and make sure to place "google-services.json" file under "app" directory.
- App name : PlayChat
- Android package name : com.google.cloud.solutions.flexenv
- Provide SHA-1 certificate fingerprint
- Start a virtual device and run the app.
- Sign in with a Google account.
- Select a channel from top-left menu and enter messages.
