Qt5 uses a namespace for its targets, e.g. Qt5::Widgets is the target for the Qt5Widgets package. With cmake 3.x, policy CMP0028 generates this warning under certain circumstances:

Target "my_application" links to target "Qt5::Widgets" but the target was
not found.  Perhaps a find_package() call is missing for an IMPORTED
target, or an ALIAS target is missing?

This error occurs unless find_package(Qt5Widgets) is called from the root directory of the project. It seems that CMake has a bug that causes it to be confused about the scope of declared targets. I haven't make a "minimal example" to demonstrate this, but see the following cmake issue for more info: https://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=15101

The error is only seen at generation time, not configuration time. It can be silenced by calling cmake_policy(SET CMP0028 OFF).

Currently, if a project dependency is "REQUIRED" by a base project, it must also be listed as a dependency of all sub-projects.
