hellorube's Issues

[Beginner Friendly] Hello Rube is back!

We're back at it again with Hacktoberfest 2018!

This project is for anyone of any skill level to contribute to. It's a fun little project to make a script in a language of your choice say "Hello World!". It can be as complicated as you like, so long as the end result is "Hello World!" ;)

The basis of this project is from the Rube Goldberg Machine, to make something so simple happen in a complicated and roundabout way.

So what are you waiting for? Get contributing! Make sure to tell us about your code in your PR :)

If you have any ideas, feel free to leave them as comments below to help people get started. And feel free to check out other people's contributions to the project.

[Beginner Friendly] Hello Rube's Third Year

Hello Rube is back for Hacktoberfest 2019!

This project is beginner friendly and is aimed at helping you get to grips with programming, git and Github :)

The basis of this project is the Rube Goldberg Machine. The idea is to make something simple, happen in a complex or very roundabout way.

For this repo, we like to use the tried and tested "Hello World" example. The only aim of this project is for you to get "Hello World" output onto the screen, but in the most complex or creative way you can think of!

Check out some of the examples already made by everyone to get an idea of what to make. Or if you're stuck, feel free to comment below.

So what are you waiting for? Let's get rubing! ;)

P.S. If you have any ideas you'd like to share to help people get started, share them in the comments below

Consider changing the name of the "Moo:Cow" directory

The colon in the directory name breaks cloning with Git for Windows. Consider changing the directory name to make it easier for new users to figure out what the issue might be.

Output of clone:

Cloning into 'HelloRube'...
remote: Enumerating objects: 33, done.
remote: Counting objects: 100% (33/33), done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (26/26), done.
remote: Total 221 (delta 10), reused 17 (delta 3), pack-reused 188R
Receiving objects: 100% (221/221), 35.39 KiB | 2.08 MiB/s, done.
Resolving deltas: 100% (63/63), done.
fatal: cannot create directory at 'Moo:Cow': Invalid argument
warning: Clone succeeded, but checkout failed.
You can inspect what was checked out with 'git status'
and retry the checkout with 'git checkout -f HEAD'

[Beginner-Friendly] Contribute to Hello Rube

Contribute to Hello Rube by adding a Rube Goldberg Machine-esque implementation of the classic "Hello World" script.

This can be done in any language you want, and in any complexity you want ranging from simple to wildly complex/convoluted.

Make sure to tell us about your code in your PR ;)

Feel free to browse what others have contributed for inspiration. If you have any ideas, feel free to leave them as a comment to help others get started.
