any idea why I get a double echo on the data received?

for instance, on the CPC, I type:

print #8,"hello"

and in the python output text file and screen I get:

hheelllloo

Do you have a schematic diagram of how how you connected up the Teensy 2.0 with the LED, button, what size resistors did you use and where and input pins? The image with the cable only shows me 1/2 the story. I have a Teensy 3.0 that I found in the bottom of a drawer and I want to put it to good use.
