io_scene_ase's Issues

Meshes with high polygon counts export incorrectly

Same problem as the psk/psa exporter addon, exports above a set limit of verts and triangles get artifacts and lose parts of the mesh.

Edit: I got confused with both this new project and the older one (Yet I somehow still made the issue here?). Anyway, the issue title still applies, but rather than stopping at a set limit (like the old version), it messes up the triangles after a certain point:

I'm updating this model import to replace the auto smoothing and giving it's original smoothing/sharp edges, so you might not be able to replicate this on your end with the model from the addon.

Error during export and missing units setting

Blender version: 2.93.1

Plugin throws an error during export. The "Meters/Unreal" setting has disappeared from the UI as well:

Replication steps

Select mesh object > Hit Export ASE in the exporter window.

AutoSmooth shading by degrees doesnt work

Using Blenders Autosmooth for a mesh doesnt seems to work on exported meshes (tested in UT3 Ed).
Imported mesh appears to have full smooth shading.

Only manually specified hard edges (Mark Sharp) works on exported mesh.

Great scripts!

Seemed to work very well. The error message stating "No UV" did not give me a hint as to where to go in Blender to add one. The message about adding a "Mesh" did not give me any hints either, but then "The mesh needs at least one material was even less helpful when I do not know Blender.

I guess I was hoping for an Import, then an Export, with no intervening steps. Too much to hope for, apparently. I guess I will have to learn Blender more to be able to use it effectively for my student's benefits.

How can I export mesh as collision only? (yellow lines)

Hello

I'd like to know if there's a way to export any mesh as collision only. I'm using more than 1K Triangles. so for a fluid gameplay inside an old engine I'll put them with no colission. Is it possible to export any mesh as collision only?

Thanks for this bud! really helpful
