National Novel Generation Month. Because.
Count me in, dariousk.
Next year: NaNoGenMo challenge generator.
Great idea. I'm in.
This sounds really cool!
Worst case I'll write an n-markov generator in C0, the language I use to teach intro computer science. (This may mean I take down the code if it becomes an assignment in future semesters...)
Seems like fun, and I've had a few ideas bubbling !
I'm in
sunglasses ON

Is the intention to 'publish' them in any form? e.g. amazon
Can they be (algo) illustrated?
No idea what I'm gonna do yet, will fill in this space with a project idea later.
Let's do this thing.
I'll be partaking. It sounds fun!
I probably won't be spending the whole month on it, but I did a bit of coding on it today...
'I've heard something like it, yer honour, at all, at all,' said Alice, feeling very glad that it was over at last, more calmly, though still sobbing a little now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.
...at least attempting this.
Maybe some sort of post-singularity crime drama.

well i might be absent for the next 2 weeks but i'll generate something end of month. In the meantime I might leave a bot collecting story-lines from twitter, if thats allowed.
What an awesome idea, looking forward to creating a found novel of others words! (Now to work out the most interesting idea method)
For real.
But unwisely. Don't tell!
I am really excited for this project. I have so many (potentially awesome) ideas that I hope to play around with. Count me in!
I am doing this thing. I will try to update this space maybe I guess? I don't know. I'm much better at Twitter and I will be trying to use my Tumblr (under the hashtag #NaNoGenMo) as a more in-depth dev blog to spare my Twitter followers from programming jargon.
But I guess I'll update this when I post new things? I don't know.
I made a poetry generator for my AI class. This would be exciting. I actually participated in NaNo before and hit the 50k words. But now that I'm focusing on coding, this would make the most sense for me. Thanks for coming up with the idea!
I've got some big, big ideas that will probably fall to the wayside in favour of quick and dirty hacks, but I'm in.
I'm hoping I'll end up coming up with something better than just doing this:
curl -O http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/23641/pg23641.txt
This is for discussion of non-technical things related to this project (such as suggestions for project organization).
Maybe automate this Project Gutenberg thing I did earlier: http://hypotext.aws.af.cm/
This is an open issue where you can comment and add resources that might come in handy for NaNoGenMo.
NOTE: at some point I will turn this into a more organized document, probably on the wiki for this repo.
I've previously done Markov-chain text-generation for Twitter bots, using some Python code found on GitHub.
Here's a list of my relevant GitHub projects, in chronological order. They all build on one another.
I would really like to use a Markov approach combined with some natural language processing to make grammatically correct sentences. Maybe that is too ambitious. Grabbing random sentences or paragraphs from related texts seems like a more doable approach.
OK, for my first stab at this, I decided to take one of the most concise pieces of text around and see what happened if you modified it a little bit at a time. Here's the Gettysburg Address as it was delivered on an infinite number of alternative Earths:

Code here: https://github.com/muffinista/NaNoGenMo
There's a collection of colors and terrain types in there if that's handy for anyone.
I have another idea that will be more novelish.
I promise I won't make too much of a mess.
Got a couple of simple ideas, but ones which I like. Hopefully you'll dig them.
well we'll see
... because I'm in.
Edit: fixed title
I will generate you up some novels.
I will generate up some novels for the whole world. With some computers.
Well, here goes...
(although you already took my idea of 50k copies of a single word)
I will try this
But I think this only makes this more interesting :P
Tentative idea: the ultimate second-person novel
I'm just going to embrace the fact that I'll never generate any meaningful novels, so I'm choosing a genre that is notorious for needing little talent to actually produce.
So with the bar set low, I'm going to give it my best shot!
(Follow me @Ploogle on Twitter)
Fifty thousand words, huh? I do fear that the plot will begin to suffer partway through no matter how cleverly I code, but I'll give it a whirl.
I messed around with generating a novel a couple of years ago - I actually got it printed, which was fun. It was basically just a markov-ed NKJV Bible, though, so nothing too interesting.
I got a copy of propp and a markov chain algorithm, let's do this
Starting my engines...
This sounds like a lot of fun.
