Assignment Deets

Read the assignment description (also posted in the module):

For this assignment, you will need to follow along with the Flappy Bird tutorial:

https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/live-session-making-a-flappy-bird-style-game (Links to an external site.)

Once you have a working version of this project, you need to add unique components to the game, one of which must address accessibility of the game. Your ReadMe file for this assignment must include a discussion of accessibility issues for this game. Think about how someone who is hearing or vision-impaired would play this game. Think about the controls for this game, and the user experience for someone with a physical challenge would play this game (wounded veterans, people with tremors, etc... might be challenged by the game mechanics). You should develop a settings menu for the user to have game play options.

Examples of unique components to incorporate into the skeleton could involve adding sound effects or background music, audio warnings for jumping up or down, art, collision modification/refinement, adding variable speed to the game, or tracking statistics. You may want some of these features to be changed in a settings menu.

As usual, Topics II students will be expected to incorporate more challenging features than Topics I students. Your modifications should be explained in the ReadMe file.

This is a group assignment (2 people) and you should work with someone who you have not worked with (either on SET or Pong). You may work with someone in your same major group project, however. Unless you worked with them on SET or Pong.

Readme

Need discussion of what accessibility issues might be in this game. Eg, someone with tremors, bad eyesight, bad hearing. And how our mods might address some/all of these.

Accessibility: Audio Warnings

Indicate where the opening is based on pitch (pings every so often or on button press?)

Questions: How will the 'flap' sfx work with this? Or do we mute flap sfx if this is enabled?

Main Menu

Maybe include credits in the background here?

Statistics

Past records of games!

High Score?

Needs to be a scene linked off the Main Menu

Rules

Need a screen explaining rules/controls/accessibility mods

Art/Animations: Theme?

To go with the pitch detection of openings, maybe make it a bat? And have the obstacles be things in a cave? So stalactites and stalagmites?

Ideally, make these into prefabs for reusability
