docker-for-web-developers's Introduction

Docker for Web Developers

IMPORTANT: This repository provides code for the 2023 version of the Docker for Web Developers course (coming soon). If you're looking for the older 2020 version of the course, switch to the 2020-course branch.

This course provides a practical hands-on introduction to Docker from a web development standpoint. It is designed to get you up and running with Docker in your day-to-day web development as quickly as possible.

Locate the commands and demos run in the different course modules in the associated folders in this repository.

I hope you enjoy the course!

docker-for-web-developers's Issues

Correction in Dockerfile command

Following along in section 6, "Building Custom Images with Dockerfile", I went to your Github repo here to grab the Dockerfile but after launching via docker run..., then browsing to the website failed. Comparing to your demo in the video, I noticed a discrepancy in this line:

Once I changed that to this...

COPY . /var/www

then I could open the test website in the browser.

Missing new chapter 9 moving to kubernetes content

Great pluralsite course! I was curious to look at your sample project for the kubernetes generated files as well as the additional configuration for nginx and other services used in session 9 in pluralsite. Any plans to update this repo with those resources?
