Goal is to have something at danvk.org/catskills/map.html

• Move all GPX files into this repo and update make_geojson.py
• Extract hike metadata from blog posts
• Move existing yarn2 project into this repo
• Make the cards show relevant information and link to hikes
• Host it on danvk.org/catskills

Improvements:

• Support linking to a hike on the map (react-router)
• Document development / publishing workflow
• Switch to mountain icons for mountains: https://fontawesome.com/icons/mountain?f=classic&s=solid
• Color peaks by completed / not completed
• Catskill Park line is canonically blue
• Switch live site over to vite/React version
• Make winter view
• Make annual view
• Add elevation / time scrubber
• Port the page to React (preferably React 18)
• Link card and map clicks (both ways)
• Show which peaks I've hiked and which I haven't
• Add direction arrows to the tracks
• Disable live reload stuff in prod
• Eliminate the scroll bounce

What are the cool kids using these days? Probably not Google Analytics.

Particularly the chart is white-on-white

Image filenames are perfectly correlated with timestamps when the images are just from one person. But for group hikes, they're not. It would be convenient if my shrink-and-jpeg script renamed the images so that they started a sortable ISO timestamp.

• Switch to a better mountain icon; should have white snowcap / border
• Add elevation / time scrubber
• Zoom to selected track
• "Float" the side panel over the map
• Make winter view

• Make the selected track appear above all other tracks
• Highlight peaks that a track hit

Click any of the map images on a blog post on your phone. The map view page will eventually crash.
