Note from clojure data.xml docs:
data.xml on Clojurescript doesn't currently support streaming, hence only the *-str variants of parse/emit are implemented.

This makes it likely that we'll need to use *-str variants in clojure code.
This doesn't seem like a big deal because our use case is one time up front parsing.
