ddb50.vsix's Issues

Keep the messages in a local file

I really like this idea! ๐Ÿฆ† However, as #3 indicates, the messages vanish as users focus view on other panels. It will be super helpful if ddb can keep the messages in a local file and show the dialogue every time users open the side panel. Moreover, there may be a clear button for users to manually clear the dialogues.

Publish server code

Would love to see the implementation of ddb as a service. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained in seeing behind the scenes of how the plugin was created and how chatgpt can be leveraged in an app.

Access using GITHUB_TOKEN?

Hello.
I currently use the CS50 Dockerfile and .devcontainer, along with GitHub classroom for my classes (instead of cs50.dev). This has worked fine. Last summer, I had an issue, cs50/codespace#78, which you fixed by explicitly checking for CS50_TOKEN and falling back on the GITHUB_TOKEN.
The recent addition of the AI model (explain code, rubber duck) has been a little frustrating, because they stopped working (except in cs50.dev). I have been sending students to the Web page (cs50.ai), but this is not as convenient as just using the menu commands inside VSCODE.
Would it be possible to make a similar modification in this case, that would allow the non-cs50.dev containers to work?
Thank you very much.

messages vanish when switching to other pane (file explorer <-> rubber duck)

first of all: what a great and funny idea for an extension. awesome work ๐Ÿ’–

i noticed that the messages disappear when i switch panes.
for example:

  • write with duck
  • go to file explorer
  • write with duck again

i dont know if it is my design or a bug.
however i think i would be great to see the prior messages and perhaps add settings to automatically clear the messages when switching, button and command for the command palette.

Publish `CS50.ddb50` duck debugger to Open VSX

Hi!

Any plans for publishing this on open-vsx so that it can be used locally with client applications like VSCodium and others?
i tried looking for 3party duck/dumb-chat-bots etc but kinda understandably so, there's none

for now, i have settled on this one: assisrMatheus.sidebar-markdown-notes for sidebar notes

thanks :)

Dear extension author,
Please publish this extension to the Open VSX marketplace.

Context

Unfortunately, as Microsoft prohibits usages of the Microsoft marketplace by any other products or redistribution of .vsix files from it, in order to use VS Code extensions in non-Microsoft products, we kindly ask that you take ownership of the VS Code extension namespace in Open VSX and publish this extension on Open VSX.

What is Open VSX? Why does it exist?

Open VSX is a vendor neutral alternative to the MS marketplace used by most other derivatives of VS Code like VSCodium, Gitpod, OpenVSCode, Theia-based IDEs, and so on.

You can read on about Open VSX at the Eclipse Foundation's Open VSX FAQ.

How can you publish to Open VSX?

The docs to publish an extension can be found here. This process is straightforward and shouldn't take too long. Essentially, you need an authentication token and to execute the ovsx publish command to publish your extension. There's also a doc explaining the whole process with an example GitHub Action workflow.

Duck debugger in the VSCode Marketplace

Thanks @dmalan @brianyu28 and @rongxin-liu for CS50. I searched for the DDB in the VSCode marketplace so that I can direct my students towards that for installation. I have forked this; then added couple more questions beyond the "quack" and have made it available in the marketplace. If you make this available, I will unpublish the one I have published in the marketplace. Thanks again.
