cposc-2014's Issues

Getting the word out about the CFP

When you spread the word, please check it off the list and add you name. And please add to the list!

Here is a blurb you can use when posting to medium's with more than 140 character limit. But feel free to come up with your own thing as well.

SIRIUS: AN OPEN SOURCE LIBRARY FOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS

Jon Moore gave a great talk at PhillyETE. I encouraged him to check out CPOSC. He was interested. We should invite him to give a talk, or perhaps give a keynote talking about his OpenSource experience at Comcast. He is a really good speaker and I think would do well.

Sponsorship Tracking

Do we have a place where we are tracking sponsorships? I reached out to my RedHat contact.

First Org Meeting of 2014

Hi All!

The time has come to start the CPOSC ball rolling for 2014. I'd love to do a a Google Hangout or call to get everyone who is still interested in helping out onto the same page. Please fill out the poll below so we can find a time that works for the majority. I will keep notes and post them here after the meeting for those that can't make the meeting.

Excited to get started!

Single track for last talk.

Just came back from Philly ETE 2014. I was chatting up @lmarburger. I was debating sticking around for the last talk of the day. It is a common desire to leave early and get back part of your day, beat traffic, or whatever. I ended up sticking around.

I was commenting on how we tried to keep the most interested talks for last to encourage attendance. One reason for doing this is so there is an audience for the speakers. Larry had a great idea. Why not just go single track on the last talk. Sure it lowers the number of total talks, but it gives the final speaker the similar size audience.

I thought it was a good idea so I didn't want to lose track of it.

Website

Hi All,
I know it's been quiet for a while. I had a couple false starts with the website, and I know we were waiting for that to be ready before we proceed. I think we can still make this happen! I bit the bullet and just paid for a simple bootstrap theme and did the website myself.

Please take a look: http://cposc.github.io/

If you have any feedback, please feel free to chime in here. Or or true Github fashion send a pull request. :) I'd like to move this forward and get the DNS changed in the next couple days.

Thanks!
Lon

Date Reserved

Talked to IU13 and the Nov 1st date has been reserved for us. Still have some paperwork to fill out for them, but it's on the calendar!

Test issue notifications

Wondering, how do you start a new "issue" and inform everyone? Rely on their notification settings? Do timely messages need to also be sent via email?
