civicrm-directory's Introduction

CiviCRM Directory

CiviCRM Directory is a WordPress plugin that creates a publicly-viewable directory from data submitted to CiviCRM.

Notes

This plugin has been developed using a minimum of CiviCRM 4.7.23.

Installation

There are two ways to install from GitHub:

ZIP Download

If you have downloaded CiviCRM Directory as a ZIP file from the GitHub repository, do the following to install and activate the plugin and theme:

  1. Unzip the .zip file and, if needed, rename the enclosing folder so that the plugin's files are located directly inside /wp-content/plugins/civicrm-directory
  2. Make sure CiviCRM is activated and properly configured
  3. Activate the plugin
  4. You are done!
git clone

If you have cloned the code from GitHub, it is assumed that you know what you're doing.

civicrm-directory's Issues

Open Street Map

This is just for future wish list, is there a way to use OSM? Or I guess how can other map displays be used in addition to Google Maps?

Display list view option

When viewing a directory, the initial page is empty unless I click on a letter. Sample here: https://civi47.tadpole.cc/directory/members/

Using a profile with shortcode, when adding force="1" in it shows all listings based and then the filters can be used to filter further, it looks something like this:

[civicrm component="profile" gid="16" mode="search" hijack="0" force="1"]

Can a setting be added to do something similar, so the directory has some contacts shown by default if wanted?

Map Only Widget

Is it possible for a Map Only widget or shortcode to be used? The current use case is to display map on homepage of a theme that is fully widgetized. Thoughts?

Page not found on view profile

If you get a page not found when clicking view profile from the map (directory-details.php template), go to permalinks settings and re-save. Then the details page works again.

Additional Address Fields

It seems if custom fields are added to Address they don't appear as selection options when building out directory. I noticed when adding this extension for neighborhood lookup. Can these fields be made so they are displayed in the directory address options too?

Default core contact fields

Core contact types to start with are:

Individuals

  • Prefix
  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Last Name
  • Suffix
  • Current Employer
  • Job title
  • Contact Type
  • Gender
  • Birth Date

Organizations

  • Organization Name
  • Legal Name
  • Sic Code
  • Contact Type

Fields in both contact types

  • Nickname
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Website
  • Contact Source
  • External ID
  • Upload Image
  • Address fields

After these the use of Custom Fields would be the next step to extend/customize the data fields in a directory listing.

Option to add searchable fields

When setting up directory using a profile, there are a few options when selecting publicly visible fields:

  • Searchable
  • Results Column

Can a checkbox be added next to each contact field in the same for to make it Seachable if wanted? Maybe something like this:

Map Pins by a criteria

Is there a way to allow map pins to be customized based on a criteria, like a custom field used, a group they are part of, a tag they have applied, etc? What options do we have for this? Meaning what needs to be done for this to be possible?

Using a Smart Group to limit listing

Using the Profile to built a directory, there is the setting to limit the contact listing by Group, in a lot of cases a smart group. This allows you to say show me all member who are active of member type x, but not those who are lapsed for example.

This is part of the advanced settings in a profile

Limit Group
Select a group if you are using this profile for search and listings, AND you want to limit the listings to members of a specific group.

This is useful, as it provides flexibility to display a directory by any criteria used in an advanced search to create a smart group.

Map Height per Directory

Is there a way to add a setting in each directory to set map height? Maybe width too, though that tends to be 100% so it's responsive. However height could vary based on what is being mapped. Thoughts on how this could be done?

Member Types and Statuses

Out of the box CiviMember does not provide any Member Types, it's blank. So each instance of CiviCRM will have it's own naming and options of member types.

Statues are as seen here, but can be extended too.

Are there any other specifics on this that would be helpful?
