wireless-usb-oc-big-sur-adapter's Issues

It doesn't work with Big Sur 11.0.1 (20B29)

I have been installing your drivers starting from Mac OS Catalina, I have now updated to Big Sur. I uninstalled old drivers and installed new ones, but my macbook does not see the external wifi modem. I am watched your video, you have beta version 11.0, maybe it shouldn't work for me?

OpenCore 0.6.5 not working <- Big Sur

First of all, thank you for the driver.

Works fine with OpenCore version 0.6.1 but when upgrading to 0.6.5 it stops working.
All other hardware works correctly as with 0.6.1 only this wireless adapter is giving me problems.

One more thing:

If I install on version 0.6.5 then attempt to load on 0.6.1 the OS won't boot (loading the OS with version 0.6.5 I can boot), just saying this because I noticed people having issues where they can't boot. Removing the driver then starting and installing on 0.6.1 worked and was able to boot.

Wireless Icon is not visible on certain backgrounds

The Icon is visible only on light background, when in night times changes happen on macOS all icons turn white except wireless icon. Also on certain backgrounds/wallpapers its not visible due to dark icon.

Not working in BigSurr beta 1

I've checked many times but the problem is not in the OC, this USB WiFi works perferctly in macOs 10.15.5 but gives Kernal panic in bigSurr driver used (Wireless USB-OC-Big-Surr-Adapter)

About SIP and Gatekeeper

Hi

I installed everything and its working fine, amazing. Thanks for all!

can I leave SIP and gatekeeper activated again? just for security I though.

Best regards.

macOS Update

Does this program break snapshot seal and OS Update(not from appstore)?

Kext dosent show up

Hey, im Using OpenCore and when i İnstall it, the kext dosent show up in OC Configuratior and EFI>OC>Kext. SIP is disabled too. Why this is happening?

How to change menu bar icon?

Hi, first of thanks for the great work.

How do I change the menu bar icon? The current blue icon is somewhat blurry on my 4K display and it is out of place from other icons being black or white only.

Cant update to 11.6.2 after driver installation

Hi

I installed this driver few weeks ago, but now I cant update the os to 11.6.2, the last time I updated to 11.6.1 I disabled csrutil and uninstalled the driver, this allowed me to update macOS, but now i cant

im using opencore

edimax 7811un Mac os Monterey

i've got an Edimax 7811un and a Mac OS X Monterey Beta 9 installed. I've downloaded your v11 install package but even after installation of the program, the system cannot detect my wifi USB. I have another partition with Mac OS X Big Sur on it and used your previous program and the wifi was working ok with Big Sur. Thanks

Cannot Show Your Location

When I try to find my location on maps I always get an error: This Mac cannot determine your current location because it does not have Wi-Fi..

I am able to find my WiFi network and connect to it, so this part works fine. Just the location services do not work.

support MacBook macOS big sur?

Howdy! Are the drivers updated for the new macos at the moment? if I install it on catalina now, will it work fine? Before installing a new version, should I uninstall the previous drivers?

Add license and source code

It is unclear what the terms and conditions are of the software (please make it MIT if you can). In addition, I can't look in the source code to see what it's doing. Can you add the source code for these (whether they are actual drivers or shell scripts to patch a package)?

Error: No USB-Wifi Plug in - TP-Link T3U

I followed the instructions. However, I get the above error message.

TP-Link T3U - AC1300. I am running Monterey 12.1 on a MacBook Pro 15in, 2016. I am using a USB-C to USB hub since the MacBook only has USB-C ports. I also tried a USBC adapter.

The same Wi-Fi adapter works on my MacMini running Monterey 12.1.

Monitor download speed

Is there any way to enable to monitor the download speed? In any network app I try (including the macOs system monitor), the download speed shows as Zero (0). I am currently in big sur, using latest v.6 of your Big Sur app.
I thank you for your great work.

Is there any version that support this device on bigsur?

DWA 131 Big sur OC

hello,

first of all i would like to thank you for this contribution and the time you spent to adapt the driver, and i hope to find the help i'm seeking , being fairly new to hackintosh.

i have a DWA 131 dongle , on Big Sur OC , SIP is disabled , on legacy boot , i believe that the driver has nothing to do with the EFI .

here is the problem , i followed the video , installed the software and i injected the kexts ( rtwlanu1827.kext rtwlanu.kext) , however when i reboot , a panic shows up and the boot is halted .

i first thought that the kext i have are for clover and not for OC , i do not know where to download the OC version,

my config : Latitude 3350
Broadwell-U Intel Core i5-5200U - 15w
Graphics: Intel HD 5500
LCD: 1366x768
Disk: Toshiba SATA-II 320GB MK3255GSX HDD
Audio: Realtek (alcid=5)
wifi : external dongle DWA 131

thank in advace , and thank you for your efforts , keep up !

Problem with big sure update "11.3.1", Kernel panic "can't perform kext scan: no kext summary"

=UPDATE=
i don't know what's happened, but after disabling "xchiport limit" from.. > kernel > xhciportlimit --> disable.
Working fine again!!
=end of update==

It was working like charm on catalina and big sure, and after update to big sur 11.3.1 not working at all with tp-link wn822n v5.
I tried everything 😪
Clean install with oc 6.5, 6.8 same problem.

Kernel panic "can't perform kext scan: no kext summary"

The program conflicts with the keyboard

Hi, first of all I want to thank you for what you do. Secondly, I want to tell you about a problem I'm having. After installing the Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter, the Internet worked, but the keyboard started to disconnect after a couple of seconds after logging into the user. It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong with it, but it turns out that it is because of the installation of the above that it refuses to work. After uninstalling that software, the keyboard works again. Can you tell me what the problem might be?

Cannot boot after running installation script if previous version is already installed

I installed V6 in a system where I had a previous version already installed (V4). This resulted in duplicate kext records in config.plist, making the system unable to boot. I think the installation script should search the config.plist kext records to find existing kext dictionaries for rtwlanu.kext and rtwlan1827.kext
After removing the duplicate dictionaries, the system boots normally.

Installing on Mac OS Monterey Hackintosh leads to Boot-Stuck on Apple Logo

Hi there chris!

First of all, thanks so much for this amazing driver and doing all of the great work for the community. Really appreciate it!

I have recently converted one of my laptops, an Acer Nitro 5 an15-51 to a Hackintosh device (Mac OS Monterey) using this resource (with all EFI and Kexts intact). I believe that the EFI folder already has the drivers on there, but trying to install the WiFi indicator using your driver leads to my device getting stuck on the Apple Logo. My WiFi adapter is a TL-WN725N.

The steps I have followed are as follows:

  1. Install using latest available Monterey version with macrecovery.py (python ./macrecovery.py -b Mac-E43C1C25D4880AD6 -m 00000000000000000 download)
  2. After installation, replace EFI folder from USB and reboot without the USB.
  3. Downloaded the driver from Wireless USB Big-Sur Driver from chris1111 and installed it. I can confirm that the WiFi works and can see the lights on the device (and can connect on the last screen of the Driver installation step where it asks you to "reboot the device to complete installation")
  4. Clicked on "Reboot" which is required to complete the installation of the driver, doing which leads to an unbootable device (stuck on Apple logo)

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Hello,

Are there any plans to support VIRTUALBOX?

Many thanks

iCloud drive unable to up/download files

Issue with 902.11ac Realtek usb wifi dongle. -ONLY icloud. (Internet, network is working as it has to )
Tested on: Mojave, Catalina -WORKING. Monterey-NOT working
On Monterey it seems the os is unable to download or upload the files to the icloud drive, if the usb wifi is set as the primary network card. Switching network to my intel maussi card resolves the problem. I have internet on both cards. Tried also with the usb dongle as the only card, same issue.
bootloader: opencore 0.76
Can anyone confirm?

It does not work

Using Archer T3U Plus, I installed it on Catalina, but after rebooting and plugging the adapter, it says: "No USB-Wifi Plug in" when clicking on the upper icon. The USB Hub shows a 802.11ac NIC (Realtek based) BUT there's no WIFI adapter showing in Syst Pref / Network. Any ideas? BTW I tried all the 3 latest driver releases 9, 8 and 7.

Kexts Not Showing Up In OC

I don't have an ESP Folder before EFI, just EFI so its EFI/EFI the kexts didn't copy to my OC, can you please help? Or Upload the Kexts to GitHub so I can Add Manually, Or add an if else statement for if /ESP doesn't exist else EFI/EFI/OC/Kexts

Thank You

Edit: I Renamed EFI To ESP So My Path is ESP/EFI/OC/Kexts still didn't work, Gonna Try Mounting It With MountEFI Before Install

Edit: 2 So I Deleted The ESP Folder That the installer made and Renamed my EFI Partition to ESP, Made sure my pathing was correct and Still Didn't Work

Edit 3: The EFI/ESP Isn't Properly Mounted, I think It might be conflicting with a program im using called NTFS For Mac By Paragon Software, Will Be grabbing the kexts and placing them manually, would still be good to upload them for the people having the same problem

Edit 4: Problem is the Program is creating/trying to find a folder on the Macintosh/OS Drive not Mounting the EFI Local-VOLUME Fixed this by going in terminal after restart and typing "open /Volumes" and copying the kexts to my Kexts folder under my OC and Adding them to my config.plist via ProperTree with selecting the "OC Snapshot" option, Then deleting the ESP folder created under /Volumes (PLEASE DON'T DELETE IF THERE IS MORE FOLDERS OTHER THAN JUST ESP/OC/Kexts/thekexts)

Still Troubleshooting will let you know when i find a working workaround

Ok heres how to fix

  1. Disable SIP (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/troubleshooting/extended/post-issues.html#disabling-sip) and SecureBootModel (Under Misc - Security in your config.plist, using ProperTree)

  2. Use MountEFI from CorpNewt to Mount EFI

  3. Open Terminal and type "open /Volumes" then rename the EFI Logical Volume to ESP

  4. Run the Installer and select the driver install (first option) But DO NOT HIT RESTART! During the Install Your Real EFI/ESP Will Unmount, If it Doesn't Skip to Step 8

  5. Navigate the new ESP folder to OC/Kexts, And copy the Kexts to your desktop

  6. Delete The Newly Generated ESP

  7. Use Mount EFI to mount your Real EFI/ESP Again

  8. Copy the Kexts to your Kext Folder under OC (If your EFI/ESP Didn't Unmount check if the kexts were put in your EFI/ESP correctly by the program continue to Step 9)

  9. Launch ProperTree and select your config.plist

  10. Select File -> OC Snapshot (not clean snapshot) and select your real EFI/ESP OC folder

  11. Check your config in ProperTree Under Kernel -> Add and check both your kexts are in the list, save and close ProperTree

  12. Go back to the driver installer and click restart

  13. Should work now :)

StatusBar IconSet replacement

Hi Chris, I am using your Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter and it works very well.
Is it possible to replace the blue icon with one from your zip? If so, how?
I'm waiting for your answer

Help, Tp link usb working on Catalina with old drivers, no more on Big Sur with new drivers

Discussed in https://github.com/chris1111/Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter/discussions/137

Hi, thanks for you great work here.
I had wi-fi driver (V 14) working with a tp-link usb wi-fi on Catalina open core...
Yesterday I updated it to Big Sur through normal installer, and drivers kept working, despite the fact I had two wi-fi icons.
Thinking it was a driver issue, I tried to uninstall the drivers, and installing V11 OC for Big Sur.
Well the drivers do correctly install, but the usb device isn't recognised anymore.
I noticed that with the older drivers, a new fake Ethernet connection appeared in the Network settings, while it doesn't appear with these ones. I have SIP completely disabled, I even tried to reinstall the older drivers with no success, even tried those for clover....
What can I do? why doesn't the new fake ethernet show?
Did I mess with the drivers?
I don't want to repeat all the process from installing Catalina, then drivers, then Big Sur, sob...
Pls Help me.

USB Wi-Fi Adapter Recognized as Ethernet, not Wi-Fi

Hi,

I was able to get the driver working - a bit of manual shuffling, but that's more likely my fault than the driver. What matters though, is that it's working in Big Sur. Thanks!

Just a minor question ... the adapter is being reported / recognized as Ethernet, not as Wi-Fi, so location services isn't happy (or working) on my machine. Is there a configuration setting that needs to be tweaked, to indicate that this is wireless? No biggie if not.

Thanks again.

USB adapter not showed as connected

Hi,
After I upgraded to Big Sur and installed this new Wireless Utility, I'm not able to connect with my USB adapter (Ralink RT3070), the Utility always show "USB-WiFi not connected". I think the issue is in the kext loading because
kmutil showloaded | grep Rt
and
cat /var/log/system.log | grep Rt
return anything.
I also tried to manually load kext with
kmutil load --bundle-path /Volumes/EFI/efi/OC/Kexts/RtWlanU.kext/
kmutil load --bundle-path /Volumes/EFI/efi/OC/Kexts/RtWlanU1827.kext/ kmutil install
and rebuild cache with
/usr/bin/kmutil install --volume-root / --check-rebuild
but it still doesn't work...
Hope it could be an useful feedback.

rtl8188gu

Thanks for your contribution. I just bought a USB dongle (rtl8188gu,ID 0bda:b711 Realtek). I wonder if your "Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter" will work on the laptop(surface pro3, big sur 11.0.1, opencore) or not. Thanks again.

Is there any way to force 5Ghz Wifi?

My Adapter [TP-Link Archer T2U] automatically connects to 2,4Ghz but this is too slow so I want to use 5Ghz. I can't disable 2,4Ghz because of other devices that are incompatible with 5Ghz.
In Windows I can set the Wifi-Mode to 801.11ac so I thought it would be possible to get this in macOS working too.

cannot boot after installing Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter

I have WN725N V3 adapter. Used to work in my Catalina Hackintosh. But after upgrading to Big Sur beta, it is not working.

When I use Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter and add the 2 kexts to config.plist as in the video and restart, it does not boot at all.

When I use Wireless-USB-Big-Sur-Adapter, it says "NO USB Wifi Device Plugged in". Tried disabling SIP and re-enabling and then disabling again and installing. But not working.

Please help!

I have attached the log file for Wireless-USB-Big-Sur-Adapter pkg

Problem TP-LINK TL-WN823N

Hi, I have installed Big Sur on i5-3470, 8GB RAM, GTx 710, and TP-LINK TL-WN823N wifi adapter. I have installed the kext for the wifi "wireless USB OC big sur adapter - V7" but I have problems. The wifi works intermittently, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it only works for 30 seconds, others for 5 minutes, but I never have a stable connection. How can I solve?
