[UTSC Sustainability Maker Challenge]
We believe in climate change and making a difference in the future. We challenge the status quo by promoting a healthy lifestyle while consuming food that we need and not want.
To achieve this, we plan to build a mobile application that provides individual dietary tracking which mostly focuses on meat consumption. Users can access their own tracking history as well as adding each item they plan to purchase periodically. This tells them how many meat products they consume each week. The history will show purchasing trends and such data will motivate users to make better future dietary choices.
To raise awareness and motivate users to reduce their meat consumption to reduce carbon emission. Studies show that 51% or more of global greenhouse gas emissions are caused by animal agriculture. According to the United Nations, a global shift toward vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change.
