2019ncov-dashboard's Introduction

2019nCoV-Dashboard (COVID-19 Portal)

Public facing website for dissemination of analysis by the UGA CEID Coronavirus Working Group and partners. This website provides analysis and tracking of the outbreak of COVID-19 which began in Wuhan, China, in 2019.

Website coding: Eric Marty [email protected], Ben Taylor [email protected]

Contributors: https://www.covid19.uga.edu/about#contributors

Strategy:

The website is built in R using RMarkdown and some custom css and javascript. HTML reports from the various CEID Coronavirus Working Group projects are imported from project repositories and rendered here. Each project has its own page on the website which present a summary of results, links to supplemental information, public repositories and preprints as these become available. The website is built as an Rmarkdown website without Shiny for rapid deployment. Hosting is on GitHub Pages with a custom domain. Projects involving Shiny aare hosted on separate Shiny servers and embedded here using iframes.

2019ncov-dashboard's Issues

Footer

I updated footer on index.html. I thought it would propagate to other pages, but it doesn't. Let me know if you don't want me messing with the website.

External resources

I added some external resources to the footer on index.html. Can we adjust paragraph spacing so these are closer like a list>

Maps on data page have formatting issues

Loading the maps in the tabs in the webpage appears to have messed with some of the map formatting in ways that don't substantially impact interpretability but look off. I'd say this is quite low priority but worth documenting.

Notably:

  • The title of the color bar is plotted over the color bar itself
  • The tick labels on the slider bar are all plotted over each other (when in the original html only a few are plotted so they are visible)
  • The play button is truncated. I think this (and possibly the tick labels) are related to the red date text being plotted next to the bar rather than above as it is in the original html.

Footer fix

@benjaminztaylor I created include_footer_tmpfix.html and temporarily change yaml to include that file instead, in order to restore deleted content. Can you make your include_footer.html match the content. Screenshot for reference:

NOTE: Had to change the render location to top level instead of folder _site/ so everything in that folder is now defunct and ignored.

Reading in web summaries

Is it possible to read in web html directly (i.e. not in a frame). I think the frame makes it more difficult to navigate. Push back if there's a good reason not to do...

New tab on "Data" page

Text: These are the parimary data resources being used by the CEID Coronavirus Working Group
