9channel board software update

There is a new fork with a pretty big amount of changes from OpenIB. It's not quite yet ready for 1.0 public release so I'm keeping the code hidden until release (shouldn't be too far away now), but it is superior to OpenIB now with lots of security/bug/design fixes and new features. Big focus on design though, one look at 8kun would tell you why (it's very ugly in its current state).

https://github.com/9san/OpenIB-Reloaded
I've yet to upload any real changes to the github though. 1.0 beta is released.

Update

alokal.eu seems to be dead and for some reason has itself as a mirror?
6chan.net is down too.
dash3ch.tekcities.com/b/ should be dash3ch.tekcities.com

imageboards.json 2.0 has launched!

Advantages over the deprecated imageboards.json on Github:
-On GitGud, which doesn't censor unlike Github
-Updated often, only working imageboards are listed
-No dead imageboards that stay on the list for weeks or months
-No favoritism, no imageboards get omitted just because an owner wants it off the list

So come check it out!

How to handle sites using alternative DNS roots

Should we list the domain on the alternative root, or list the IP first, or an ICANN domain if available?
Bear in mind IPs may change and we won't always know if the ICANN domain is controlled by the same people as the primary domain.

Updates

Coronachan.xyz is using LynxChan again.

Madochan no longer has a .onion.
Posting on Hoppe-sama.xyz, 9san.ch. Project Imageboard, The Darkness International Imageboard and NoirChan has been broken for weeks and sometimes months now.

Why is Yumechan still on the list?

You need an account to post, and the description of your list says: List of registration-free / anonymous imageboards in JSON format.

I already told you about this in #43 but you just crossed it off without doing anything about it. Pretty stupid.

Are contributions welcome?

I didn't anything about this in the FAQ and the well known google doc was locked a long while ago citing abuse.

Proposal: Add list of possibly dead boards

I don't want to immediately remove boards from the list when they go down because they often go back up again, and I'd rather they not be missing from the list until the next time I manually update it. But I often get reports of these boards being down while waiting. Would it be useful to add an auto-maintained list of boards that have been spotted down?

Policy on boards with broken posting

I don't want to encourage people spamming boards to test whether they're working, so I'm considering as a policy leaving boards with broken posting on the list until they meet the inactivity threshold of less than 12 posts in the past year. Some of these places will fix their posting anyway, and I don't see any urgent need to remove them. Thoughts?

>The Darkness International Imageboard is back.

And it's just as broken and unusable as before it went down:

Database error: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user 'hidden'@'192.168.2.196' (using password: YES)

You should check these things before you add a board.
