fplayandroid's Issues

Search for stuff

Hi,

Sometimes I'm looking for music by a specific artist, or a specific album. To find it I have to open one of the views and scroll until I see it. This can take time and is awkward when you are walking down the street.

How about a new item in the top-level menu: "Search". This could be an incremental fuzzy search that shows artists, albums and files matching a search term. You could put an icon next to each entry to say if it is an artist, album, track or file.

Bonus points for checkboxes to search only Artists, Albums, Tracks or Files (or any combination of those) matching the term.

Cheers

Add Privacy Policy and Contributor's guidelines

Hello, I'm Harry. I engage in creating documents for open source projects. It's part of my contribution to helping open source projects. One of the documents I engage in creating is a privacy policy. The privacy policy will give details about user information collection, use and security. I really don't know if you externally collect user information, but, if you don't, it's good to let end users know via a privacy policy.
Contributor's guidelines is also an important document that will help prospective collaborators contribute easily to your project.

I'll love to hear your thoughts on this.

Album Art

Hi,

Is there anywhere in the interface that we would like to show artwork (if existing)?

It could be as simple as displaying cover.jpg in the same folder, or if not existing, the first image file found in the folder.

Cheers

Change sorting of {Artists, Albums, Files, ...} views.

(Hi Carlos, still loving FPlay!)

When I don't know what I want to listen to, I usually open either the Artists or Albums view and click a random letter and scroll a bit. Invariably I always sub-concisouly click between M and O, and thus see the same content each time.

How about the ability to sort these views randomly? And while we are there, we might as well add the ability to reverse sort too?

What do you think?

Support for DSP Manager

I just started using it today. Love the interface, but one thing I miss from is interaction with DSP Manager app from CyanogenMod. Sure you already have an equalizer, but this adds spatial effects to make headphone listening less tiring. Vanilla and ApolloMod are both available on Github and offer this. If it looks like too much work, maybe there is some other spatial effect library, I don't know.

Tweakable buffer size for streaming

I was listening to a radio station in fplay the other day and it was skipping a lot.I guess the buffer size needs to be bigger, but I can't see anywhere to tweak it. Thoughts?

"clear existing list before playing" option broken.

Hi,

I think the "clear existing list before playing a folder, a new list or an album" option is broken.

With items in the playlist and the above option ON, go to add some songs, check some folders, then click the play button on the bottom right. As I understand it the playlist should first be cleared, however, the checked items are appended to the current list.

Cheers

Add shoutcast support?

Hey Carlos,

Me again. I've been using fplay on my phone for local media and now I see you have added radio support. Very awesome. I'm going to raise a couple of feature requests. Here is the first.

You already have support for icecast, which is very cool. Now how about shoutcast also? Then we can all listen to http://somafm.com/ in fplay!

APK File

Could you provide APK file to download, please?

Number of albums and files in "Artist" view

Since my previous request was implemented very quickly and with great effect, I felt encouraged to contribute another idea to the development of the fantastic FPlay. While I'm a devout user of FPlay, I look around from time to time to see how other players behave and yesterday I tested a player made by a company that produces various audio equipment, Onkyo, and their HF Player (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onkyo.jp.musicplayer&hl=en). A useful feature of their music browser is the presence of two numbers for each artist: number of albums and total number of songs by the artist. Having these numbers is very useful to differentiate the artists for which I have individual albums from ones for which I have only one or two songs, generally in compilations.

So instead of having just:

Harry Nisson [ ]
Jennifer Clarke [ ]
etc

It would be great to have something like:

Harry Nilsson 2 Albums / 34 songs [ ]
Jennifer Clarke 1 Album / 2 songs [ ]

The size and position of the annotations are a matter of debate. The app I mentioned will write 1 Album, even if it's just one independent song - this is the default. Maybe the better solution would be:

Harry Nilsson 2 Albums / 34 songs [ ]
Jennifer Clarke 2 songs [ ]

In an ideal word, FPlay would even let the user sort the list by number of songs per artist ... Thus, the artist for which we have most songs would be at the top of the list.

Thank you for the great work done on FPlay. Best,

Cosmin

Edit: this interface change could also apply to the Albums view (many of the songs I have come from an album but I only have one song on the phone). Knowing if there are more or not is useful.

Buttons to add/play artists

Hi,

I'll first say thanks for FPlay. It is the first opensource music player for android that I can say I really like. The minimal user interface is stylish, fast and intuitive. Thanks for you efforts!

Often I want to listen to all tracks from a certain artist. I notice that album entries have an 'add' and 'play' button when you select them, but artist entries do not. For consistency and convenience, it would be neat to have these buttons on artist entries too.

Thanks

Persistent settings for automatic turning off FPlay

First, thank you for this great app. It has been my main music listening application for the last few months! Since adding songs, albums or artists to a listening list is really easy, I found that I don't need playlists anymore. Really great interface and features!

One of the very few things that might be changed, if possible, is the setting to automatically turn off the program after a given period of time. I thought that this setting was persistent, but it seems to me that it resets at each relaunch of the app. It would be great if the users could choose if they prefer a session only turn-off or a persistent turn-off option, of, for example 1 hour. It happens that I listen to FPlay and forget to turn it off and would stay in the status bar for ever. It would be nicer if it could nicely go away after a given interval.

Auto media include +

Why don't it automatically scan for Mp3 files and include them.
Also it will be nice if it have exclude directory option.
Nice player. UI have to be redesigned

Delay when adding songs

One you have selected which songs to play, and click the play button to hear them now, there is a delay before playback starts. Usually around 5 seconds. I know it is minor, but can the wait be eliminated? I'm guessing you are parsing metadata for all songs before playing? Maybe that can happen whilst the tracks are playing.

Cheers

Add intents.

Hi again,

I notice that music and playlist files are not registered to play under fplay on my system. I.e. when I choose a mp3, ogg, pls, m3u... using the cyanogenmod file browser, under the open with menu fplay is not listed.

This is kind of a rare use case, but it is useful on websites like soma.fm where you are given a pls file, which android just dumps in the Download directory. It would be neat if when clicking the file (or the notification that the file has finished downloading), that the file either opened in fplay or the menu appears asking which app to open in, fplay being an option.

I don't know much about Android development (I've written a total of zero lines of android code to date), but I think you just need to register an intent?

Thanks

Firebase Support?

Will this player have Firebase support? Or can I already implement Firebase as the source?

Swipable status notification.

A very minor item.

Most android apps that place an item in the status area can be dismissed by swiping sideways, but fplay has a small "off icon" which can be tricky to press on a small screen. How about a swipable notification? This would exit fplay.

Thanks and sorry for raising so many issues.
