winpilot's Issues

Clicking Settings icon freezes program

Whenever I click Settings, BloatyNosy freezes for a while, then finally pops up Settings. I'm running version 0.43.70 on Windows 11 Pro, Version 10.0.22621, Build 22621.

BloatyNosy is well worth the conscience donation to upgrade from BloatBox. I love the settings optimization. I had given up hope on uninstalling Widgets (though it took a few attempts with BloatyNosy).

Crash when selecting BloatFinder in the more apps drop down

I was just giving this app a try, run an analyse, selected the problems I wanted fixed and then clicked the fix button. All good.

Then I started checking out some of the other options in the "More Apps!" list, got to the BloatFinder option and it instantly crashed.

Here's the log:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

Issue with google chrome

After running Debloos, google chrome is telling me it is managed by my organization, is there any way to fix this?

Microsoft Teams crash and restarts

After running BloatyNosy in default mode (kept all selected options by default), Microsoft Teams will not run anymore.
The application starts, but closes after a few seconds and restarts showing a banner "There was a glitch, and we had to restart the app. It's good to go now.".
It closes again after a few seconds and restarts again. in loop.
After several restarts it ends up showing this window:

Signing in again does not solve the issue.
Restoring the default state does not solve the issue.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app does not solve the issue.
Clearing Teams cache does not solve the issue.

error when pressing fix

[error 2147942402 (0x80070002) when launching `winget uninstall "windows web experience pack" --silent']

i just started the program, chose what to fix and clicked fix. then i got this

Can we please get the option to revert changes?

Some Examples:

  • I disabled the Bing AI button but now I want to try it. As far as I can tell, there is no way to reenable it.
  • I've accidentally turned on the Subsystem for Linux twice now but I have no idea what it even is nor do I care about it and I had to dig through Google for a way to turn it off (why is it even an enabled recommendation by default?).
  • I may be wrong on this one, but Disabling Game DVR Feature changes the registry. I had disabled it in the past but when I decided I wanted to try it instead of Nvidia, I wasn't able to turn it back on. I once again had to go digging through Google to try and find a way to reenable it through the Registry.
  • I have accidentally uninstalled apps that the program flagged as Bloat that I actually use (Sticky Notes, GamingServices, etc.). I had to go find and reinstall them myself, which is a little inconvenient.

All and all, I LOVE the app and all the hard work you put into it! But I would love it even more if we could reenable/reinstall things too. After all, I'd say the point of this app is empowering freedom of choice. Not much choice in only being able to permanently disable.

Reversion feature?

unchecked biometrics in app, still removed biometrics / depedencies and unable to revert to factory settings,
using the "restore default settings" doesn't seem to work and each time i boot the app following said option it states the same options are disabled despite trying to revert.

'Restore Default' is misleading

Using the restore defaults button doesn't return your registry to the state it was in before the programme was used, it simply sets things to the opposite of what they were, this is a deal breaker for me, is there any possibility of this changing?

False Positive triggered by MS Defender

I accidentally sent BloatyNosy to the recycling bin and when I tried to recover it, Windows Defender asked me if I wanted to run "$rv6metx.exe", I have no idea what this is. Please tell me if it's safe to run (Sorry if I didn't word this correctly I'm fairly new to GitHub)

Possible interference with windows hello and fingerprint scanner?

Edit: NVM, found the setting. Why would you want to disable biometrics? the fingerprint scanner isn't secure enough?

Hi

I really appreceate your work on these projects.

I set up the computer, with a fingerprint scanner to login.
Installed BloatyNosy from Microsoft Store, and everything went well.
I just noticed that the fingerprint scanner stopped working.
Any Idea which setting or removed software could cause that?

thanks

Windows "Some of these settings are managed by your organization" message

First the message appeared in my browser, I freaked out and reset my PC and all the passwords thinking I had gotten a malware. After the fresh install when I ran this app again, this time the warning appeared in the systems privacy settings. Is there a way to disable/revert this? It seems the app applies some kind of group policy/registry tweak or something.

Handling of profiles

I'm trying to set up a system where I can run just the fixes I want on a series of PCs. I've exported a profile, but I'm not quite understanding the import process.

Importing a profile seems to just highlight the affected settings, but it doesn't actually change which boxes are checked, which makes it look like I still have to go down the list and click uncheck all the boxes I don't want. If I Analyze after loading a profile, it actually unchecks ONLY the boxes I wanted checked, and colors the remaining items in red. The meaning of both of these changes isn't clear in the UI.

Can you help me understand what is happening? How is the Import Profile function supposed to work?

New desktop ->New instance of an app - this feature of the Win11 got deleted- please help!

Namaskar,

I used BloatyNosy for deleting bloatware and annoying widgets. Now its a breeze of cool air. Joy of having a lot simpler UI.

But I am missing one feature of Win 11. That is, when we have multiple desktops open, when you click on the app icon on taskbar it will start new instance of that app in the same desktop. But now after running BloatyNosy, whenever I click on an app icon on the taskbar it switches to the desktop it's currently running in. Can this be reversed to the original setting, I need it a lot.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Suggestion: Use WPF with a library for a consistent UI

Hey, thanks for developing these programs.

One suggestion I have, now that you're putting it all in one, is using WPF instead of winforms alongside something like MicaWPF or WPFUI, (there are other libraries as well) to allow for a more consistent UI with accent color support and consistent buttons etc, so that it looks like it belongs inside of windows 11 design language. The library I mentioned before comes with consistent controls. Lastly, WPF will also make updating parts of the UI in the future easier I think.

Regardless, best of luck with development and thanks again!

Thank you, this software is awesome and I was wondering...

Is there a way to batch script for the WinModder Mods/Plugins page?
Also how do I add more programs to the InstaPackage page?

You have already condensed about 10+ apps I've tried to use in the past to do what your apps do with 2, If I could possibly customise it further it would save me so much trouble when it comes to installing/reinstalling Windows and finally having a shortcut way to have a customiseble Windows setup.

Lastly I know it's not the same app but you develop CloneApp too, how do I add my own apps to the CloneApp list along with the locations for important data for them?

I understand you may not be able to advise me how to do any/all of this but it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me in any way. I've spent a long time trying to find my perfect way of setting windows up and installing particular software with particular setups ie themes/plugins/custom data locations etc.

Thank you so much for these apps, they do exactly what they need to do and do it well. I am currently a beginner coder and am hoping to contribute more in the future, you have filled my head with ideas that I can't implement but has given me a boost to continue my Python course with entheusiasm.. at the very least I could send you any locations for data for the apps that I add to the CloneApp list, would be happy to add to an already awesome app.

Linux installed without my consent

Thanks for the debloater, but now I have Linux listed in File Explorer.
empty linux folder

When trying to open Properties to see details on it, I get an error "The properties for this item are not available".
error from Properties

I did not consent to this. So... a debloater added bloat to my PC?

How do I remove the whatever iteration of Linux installed from running BloatyNosy? It is not listed in partitions. It is not listed in hardware devices. It is not listed in installed programs. It is not listed in Features. There doesn't seem to be a simple way to remove what I didn't ask for.

(yes... I created an account JUST to complain about this...)

Important for Xbox Apps!

I used debloos today and used its app removal feuture wich also removes the XboxIdentityProvider App.

If that app is removed you cant sign in into xbox apps like (Minecraft Bedrock or Forza Horizon.)
There should be a warning there.

Breaks the widget + weather beyond repair

I wanted to reverse the widget removal because I liked how it showed the weather. If I try to do it through bloaty, it brings back the widget button "Without the weather widget" and also when you click on it nothing happens. I tried doing a system restore, tried reinstall the widget pack experience or whatever it's called. How the hell do I get back my glorious weather widget!!!

Freezing

I'm loving BloatyNosy. I'm finding it very slow to load when I start it, though. InstaPackage is also taking a long time to load when I select it.

I have a persistent Internet connection. I am using a proxy, but I observed freezing in BloatyNosy before the proxy was added.

Also, would it be possible to keep the app responsive while checking for updates?

Any idea what's happening?

Adding ExplorerPatcher in InstaPackage and Issue with WinModder

  1. Bro, pls add Explorer patcher also in InstaPackage like you have added StartAllBack. Also add selection between them like If user select Explorer Patcher, then, SAB will be greyed out and vice-versa. As installing them together conflicts system settings.

  2. There is a issue with WinModder that if we select the mods that we want to apply and select apply, then, it will only run that mod which is selected (i mean highlighted). It doesn't apply all the selected. We have to apply the mods 1-by-1 by selecting them. Please check this.

Deleted Series Tracker app

I was cleaning up an existing installation. So far, noticed that the Series Tracker app is gone. Years of work accumulating a list of shows, gone.

Had no idea BloatyNosy would delete an app I added myself. It is a Microsoft store free app.

If I can figure where the data was stored, might be able to pull from an old backup. Sheesh.

$rv6metx.exe

I accidentally sent BloatyNosy to the recycling bin and when I tried to recover it, Windows Defender asked me if I wanted to run "$rv6metx.exe", I have no idea what this is. Please tell me if it's safe to run (Sorry if I didn't word this correctly I'm fairly new to GitHub)

Errors and confusing UI, Apply fix button

Hello, this is nice but it assumes familiarity with the UI.

  • IMHO recommend a step/UI setting, and when the user selects the settings he wants, show a button apply the fixes, the drop down is not obvious or front and center
    image
And have button to Say APPLY FIX or Fix Now
    image

It crashes:

  • include some info on how to get past or restart in admin (which I ran but still same results) image
  • HP bloatware seems very stubborn , and hidden with changing names.
  • Windows does not allow us to download, marks as dangerous/discard

"Get Started" not getting removed (BN 0.80)

Hello.

First I'd like to thank you for this wonderful tool. It's a good thing we can remove all this bloatware so easily.

For my issue, for some reason I cannot remove the "Get Started" and "Skype" Apps from my system. I'm using the newest beta 0.70.54.

When I use the fix feature BN tells me, that the apps are all successfully removed,

  • Uninstalling Microsoft.Getstarted
    App removed Microsoft.Getstarted
  • Uninstalling Microsoft.SkypeApp
    App removed Microsoft.SkypeApp

but even after a reboot it's still there in my start menu and can be started normally. All other listed apps seem to be removed successfully.

OS: Windows 11 Pro

Thanks in advance. :)

Analyse list all setting to be change/mod

Hi
I wonder if it could be possible to get a button like : Analyse , before applying a fix and not knowing what it will do. Or change setting... A dual warning message could be perhaps also put as a notification when only 1 click is press.
Thanks

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Issue with WINGET

Hi, your app provoked the following issue with winget. Running winget upgrade -all gave me this error

An unexpected error occurred while executing the command:

After examining the logs, I found this:

Uninstalling your app solved the problem.
Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜‰

[suggestion] Add option to PURGE microsoft edge

Should be very useful for people who don't use this awful browser. It is kinda possible now, but I think it only deletes the app itself, without fixing the microsoft-edge:// protocol, blocking automatic re-installation, shortcut removal and so on.

As for the second, it might break a very very few UWP apps (in my case, Clipclamp and Teams asked to re-install it to work, but I use neither), but it still is relatively safe to remove.

Whatsapp desktop

After debloated whatsapp desktop app is uninstalled and impossible to reinstall from microsoft store, the error:

image

$rv6metx.exe

I accidentally sent BloatyNosy to the recycling bin and when I tried to recover it, Windows Defender asked me if I wanted to run "$rv6metx.exe", I have no idea what this is. Please tell me if it's safe to run (Sorry if I didn't word this correctly I'm fairly new to GitHub)

Issue with the "Bloat Finder"

After installing the BloatNosy 22621.1413 build and using the BloatFinder application, my Windows 11 OS has been having all sorts of issues including:

  • Windows Settings keeps prematurely closing unexpectedly
  • cannot open some webpage extensions that I could previously
  • background display is no longer mapped to the monitors correctly

When selecting the BloatFinder application to revert the settings back to default I get the following error message:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Object reference not set to an instance of object."

When opening the Details button the following information is provided:

Thanks

Chrome "this browser is managed by your organization"

Will BloatNosy cause this message in chrome if you disable chrome telemetry?

I have a complete fresh install of windows 11, so i find it hard to believe that i already have malware. (Google results say its malware if you see this message on a personal computer).
