If you can make a regedit key reader to automatically search for softwares versions/locations/etc... like:

I'll stop here but we can drastically improuve the dynamic of your tool using the regedit search because for lots of peoples like me, some softwares are installed somewhere else and for example using the default Steam location will not work for me.
I can also help finding register keys if the feature is added later, just let me know.

I ran CloneApp as Admin and can't get any apps to show up after a scan. Both Select All and Select Installed show zero applications detected.

I don't see any scan function.

how to backup Microsoft Edge based on Chromium?

Sometimes it's a pain to set up the default apps to handle each file extension on Windows 10. Is/are there registry key(s) that is/are responsible for this setting? Is it possible to be backed up?

I noticed that the BackupFile commands like
File1=BackupFile|\\DS214P\nasdisk\Programmi\CloneApp\Data\*.* : work OK (backup only files, no subfolders) but
File1=BackupFolder|\\DS214P\nasdisk\Programmi\CloneApp\Plug-ins : only create the folders structure but no files inside:
DS214P
--Programmi
---- CloneApp
--------Plug-Ins (empty)

Another question, your 7zip.plg plugin uses variables and the structure that is created in the backup is not
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ 7-Zip
but
%Var1%%Var2%%Var3%

After having it scan all installed apps, it would be nice to be able to deselect all the Microsoft and Windows apps crap in one click instead of having to go through and uncheck a few dozen things.

im trying to transfer my moms install of quicken starter edition 2017 over to her new install of windows 10 1909 from a separate hard drive
(HDD)Windows10 1903(location of software)
too (SSD)Windows 10 1909(destination)
all work is being performed on the same system, both drives on the same motherboard.

I've tried it several scenarios, but without success.
One example here:
CloneApp.exe /CB "d:\Download\B-%date%" result will be a directory with the name "B-%date%" in d:\Download

It's really unfortunate that this app isn't being updated anymore. Anyway, if the dev resumes work on it, it should be known that Classic Shell became Open Shell back in 2017.

I cannot use CloneApp with screen readers
I can navigate all the buttons in the program but the screen reader only reads the list of programs and the location of the search

Every time I try to exit the program settings with the Escape key I'm shown the following unhandled error.

First of all, thank you very much for your work and continuous improvement and for the friendly philosophy with which you work.
So I dare ask for an easy but powerful new feature: Evacuate.
Evacuate would be the same as BackUp but deleting the copied items (registry and files).

This would be a feature with many advantages:

• In front of the traditional "uninstaller" programs, it allows you to recover the installation.
• It also allows delete installations of the "false portable" programs: They do not use an installer (so they cannot be uninstalled) but they write to the registry and to% LOCALAPPDATA%
• I don't know of any other program that has this possibility.
• I think you can take advantage of practically all the BackUp code for this feature.

Why are Windows Pictures files being backed up when I have "Windows Pictures" unchecked?

Since this can use 7-Zip to compress the backups, it would be nice to also have the ability to encrypt them with that. This can probably be done by tweaking the command line parameters in the compression box in options, but that's problematic both due to not being user-friendly and, more importantly, it would leave the password there to be seen.

Hi, I'm trying to do a backup from command line option with paramter /auto. I tried:

CloneApp.exe /auto
CloneApp.exe /b
CloneApp.exe -auto

But the only thing it does is opening the main program without starting any backup. What am I doing wrong?

There are several mismatches between what's installed and what CloneApp finds. The following are installed but not found/checked by it:

• FreeCommander
• Handbrake
• PDF Split and Merge
• PDF24 Creator
• SMPlayer
• VirtualBox

And these are found as installed but are not:

• CCleaner
• Microsoft Office Excel 2010/2013/2016
• Microsoft Office Outlook 2016
• Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010/2013/2016
• Microsoft Office Word 2010/2013/2016

I assume the reason for that is because CCleaner does exist on my computer, but it's buried deep on a secondary ( not C ) drive and I don't think that should count as installed or be backed up. And it doesn't make sense for that to be all it takes for it to show as installed when the first group don't despite also being on the secondary drive. As for MS Office, I uninstall the pre-installed junk that comes with Windows, and while I have some Office stuff on the secondary drive, again, that shouldn't count, not to mention it's Office 2007, not 10/13/16.

Also, a bit unrelated but I'll add it here. I use XnViewMP, but CloneApp only has XnView, so obviously that doesn't show as installed, but I wonder why one is included and the other isn't.

It doesn't show properly if you use UTF-8 path for backup.
