stupendously-hot-charmander's Introduction

Stupendously-Hot-Charmander

This theme is based on Stupendously Hot Charmander concept developed by Roman Nguyen, available in http://bit.do/SHCC_Mockup and works in versions previous to Ubuntu 16.10.

This project is in early stage, therefore therefore themes and icons are forks of similar designs.

The gtk-theme is based on Flatabulous and Numix theme. The base of icon-pack is based on Numix-Circle-Icons, Faba and Arc.

stupendously-hot-charmander's Issues

Theme running on Ubuntu

I would like to congratulate everyone for the excellent theme, I already installed on Ubuntu 16.04 and also on Ubuntu Minimal 17.10 with Mate environment.
Being that in Ubuntu 17.10 with Mate, the Theme installed Unity, and in the login screen the user can choose which environment to use.
Greetings.

GNOME bar

The top bar needs to be a lighter shade of gray, the applet icons are too solid and too white.
If you look closely, you'd see that in the original concept:

  • The applet icons didn't have a fill, and had really thin lines that were a soft shade of gray. Also, they had more padding. (This can be achieved by simply making them smaller.)
  • There was no battery indicator, but we have seen enough to know what the battery indicator needs to be like. I personally believe that a vertical one doesn't work at all. I'd rather have a horizontal one. It goes without saying that it'd have the same line width and color as the rest of the icons
  • It showed a messaging dropdown. We don't have that messenger but we do have a "mail" icon by default and that's the one that needs to change. currently it shows a "bell" that would be better suited for a "notifications" dropdown.

Lose the pink in the window buttons

See that pink highlight? It has absolutely no reason to be here. We need the friendly shade of orange.

Also, I would prefer it if, instead of the fill changing from white to pink or orange, the background changed from transparent to orange, on hover. Like this:

Language bar icon

This is what the language applet/indicator/menu icon in the gnome-bar looks like for all English keyboards.
In short, the UK layout's icon is indistinguishable from the US.

Is this theme port of the concept of the same name dead?

Just asking this question for a few reasons:

  • The last commit was in July 2017, it's now 2018
  • Ubuntu has now received a new theme to replace Ambiance, and a lot of changes have occurred with the GNOME Shell DE Switch, so the concept kind of doesn't really play all too well with Ubuntu anymore, unfortunately
  • There's No GNOME Shell Theme..?
  • Ubuntu 18.04 uses a GTK Version that BREAKS ALL THEMES working on Ubuntu 16.04

PS: If it is, well, I'll miss it, that's for sure, especially since the concept looked so good, and so the potential of a theme port of it was awesome, too...

make the launcher icon square

In the Charmander Concept, the launcher icon is a square with edge to edge borders. This would mean that the launcher_bfb.svg icon would have to be converted from a circle to a square (easy to do with any SVG editor,) and it's orange borders would need to be extended.
