jmkvpropedit's Issues

Option to recode subtitle to UTF-8

It would be awesome if your program could recode subtitle to a different unicode character set, preferably UTF-8.
I have hundreds of mkv's with incorrect charsets.
My current way of fixing this is by dragging the mkv file into SubtitleEdit, changing it to UTF-8, saving it as a srt file, before I finally can drag both the mkv and the new srt file into MKVToolNix GUI and remux them (making sure to deselect the old subtitle file). Then I can delete the old MKV with the incorrect subtitle charset and remove the (1) from the end of the filename of the new file.
This would take forever to do manually and I have basically just put that project on hold for now.

So it would be fantastic if this could be automated by jmkvpropedit.

Error: More than one file name has been given!

Hi
When i use the "--default-duration 0:23.976fps" in Video Extra Parameters, the program gives an this error:
Error: More than one file name has been given ('E:\test.mkv' and '--default-duration').

JMkvpropedit

Why?
Where is the problem from?

Error: This file could not be opened or parsed

it's showing "Error: This file could not be opened or parsed" but the file is not opened in any other program i tried rebooting system just to make sure it is not being used by some other program still shows this error worked for some mkv files (using JMkvpropedit 1.4.3,mkvtoolnix v23.0.0,java 8 update 171)

Mkvpropedit executable not found!

I used to use Mkvpropedit 1.4.3 without issue. I recently reformatted/reinstalled this PC and copied the jmkvpropedit-1.4.3-bin folder back to the new machine from backup and I started getting the following error when I try to run it in the same way that I used to:

Mkvpropedit executable not found!
Please make sure it is installed and included in the system path.
Alternatively, you can manually set the path or copy its executable to the working folder.

I downloaded V1.5.2 and I get the same error. When I go into the settings and specify the location of the executable, it seems to start processing, but I never get the "Done" message for the file and it kicks off 2 more instances of Mkvpropedit.

Suddenly Stopped Working: Shows Command Line and Then Opens New Window

As the title says, after working great for the past year, the program suddenly stopped working and I can't figure out what I could have done to make it stop working. I didn't change any program settings or anything like that. What happens is I select my normal options and then when I click to process the changes, it shows the command line code and then opens two new jmkvpropedit instances that are blank while not making any changes. I've tried re-downloading it and making sure nothing changed and I'm at a loss.

Editing flags not shown in the GUI

Hello,

I have recently discovered this helpful tool that I can use to batch edit flags and other items in my video file collection.

The issue I am trying to solve is the Audio and Subtitle tabs only show the flags for "Enable track", "Default track" and "Forced track".

But I would like to also edit the flags for "Commentary", "Hearing impaired" and "Original language".

How can I do this?

If you are no longer supporting this utility, could you please point me to another similar utility?

Thank you.

File processing doesn't start

Hey there,
using version 1.3.3.1 aswell as 1.3.4pre, the program sometimes just doesn't do anything when clicking "process files" (Windows 8.1 64bit, Java 8 Update 31). Occasionally, it does work and the results are as expected.
Is there anything I should account for? Is this a known problem?

Completely removing Title Parameter

Greetings!

Your program is very simple to use, and I love that I will be able to edit mkv's en masse.

I have mkv files, however that have the name of the person that made them available set as the Title, so if I add a number of episodes to my VLC player, I have no way to sort them so I can watch them in order. They all are called "name of show - Pahe,in" or something to that effect.

I either need to each file's Title to match the file name, or remove the Title parameter completely. If I leave the Title parameter blank, then VLC displays nothing, rather than the actual file name,

Please let me know if there is a string I can enter into the TItle box that will disable the parameter and allow VLC to show the name of the file.

Thank you for this useful tool, and I hope you are able to explain how to make it even more useful. :)

Replacing video/audio track title

This package is amazing BTW!

Summary:
If you input the video and audio track titles as {file_name} and add a few MKV files to the source list, when you process the files the filename of the first file in the source list is used as the filename for all the tracks in all the files:

Example:

  1. Files added to source list
    "ThisMovie.mkv"
    "ThatMovie.mkv"
    "AnotherMovie.mkv"

  2. Edit video and audio track name to {file_name}

  3. Process the file

Expected result:
Examine the .mkv file with MKVToolNix - trackname should be:
"ThisMovie.mkv"
Video track name - ThisMovie
Audio track name - ThisMovie

"ThatMovie.mkv"
Video track name - ThatMovie
Audio track name - ThatMovie

"AnotherMovie.mkv"
Video track name - AnotherMovie
Audio track name - AnotherMovie

Actual Result:
"ThisMovie.mkv"
Video track name - ThisMovie
Audio track name - ThisMovie

"ThatMovie.mkv"
Video track name - ThisMovie
Audio track name - ThisMovie

"AnotherMovie.mkv"
Video track name - ThisMovie
Audio track name - ThisMovie

spherical video support

Hello. I transcoded spherical videos, bat during transcoding the information about spherical lost.
I found that VLC player support 3D videos following this specification: https://github.com/google/spatial-media (videos without spherical tags) are not played correctly.
Is it possible to use jmkvpropedit to set video as spherical to play it correct way?

"Error: This file could not be opened or parsed."

When trying to edit a .mkv file it gives this error. I made sure no other program is using the file. Tried multiple files non of them work.
Edit: found a file that works
Edit2: found the issue, every file that i tried was set to "read-only"

The out screen not show UTF-8 characters

Hi,

I use the Spanish language. Spaniards have special characters. Example. Ñ á é í

These characters are not displayed.

Can you update the aplication, to solve the problem.

Thanks

Batch processing leaves files without Dimensions/Audio-Video Track properties

Using 1.4.3 to process folders containing mkv files.

Unfortunately I chose a rather large test folder and even though I’m pretty sure I configured everything properly to name all
tracks based on the file names and the batch job seems to have run just fine, the result shows about 90% of the files now without dimensions info in Windows File Explorer and no track information whatsoever in Mediainfo.

The header editor shows all properties present in the file for those files missing the information in File Explorer and Mediainfo but they dont display/show.

The only way to get them back is to remux the files with mkvmerge which makes them show all metadata properly again.

What am I doing wrong?

The only difference between the files showing the data properly and the large number of files not displaying any info at all seems to be the writing library.
mkvmerge processed files with ibebml v1.3.5 + libmatroska v1.4.8 / Lavf57.7.2

Files aren't modified at all if they don't contain every single edit specification

For example, let's say I load 3 files in jmkvpropedit where the 1st and 2nd have 1 audio track and the 3rd file has 2 audio tracks. I then add new attachments to all files, change video title properties for all files, and change audio track number 2's title property then click Process files.

The first two will be left unprocessed (because it cannot find audio track number 2) while the 3rd will be properly processed. This results in losing the other attachment and video titles property edits I have done.

Instead jmkvpropedit should be able to do the edits that it can do (add the attachments and video title properties to the first two files as it is possible) and leave the edits it can't do out (like changing audio track number 2's title change in this case as it can't find a corresponding "a2")

save settings

anyway to save the settings, i have to re-put the info everytime the program closes.

Unable to select folders

File structure is Movies[movie][movie].mkv

In order to do batch, I have to go through each folder and add the movie individually. Any way to add a folder and the subfolders?

Ability to use sub-tag for languages

Hi,
It would be nice to be able to use tags like fr-FR instead of French for the languages.
To be able to use fr-BE fr-CA

I didn't find a way to do it with extra param…

Where is the jmkvproedit.jar file?

Hi, where can I find jmkvproedit.jar files? I only see this file
\jmkvpropedit-1.4.3\src\io\github\brunorex\jmkvproedit.java

Launch4j.exe won't let me compile the file.

Thanks for the help.
I am not a programmer.
