Hey, Don! Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce it.
Is there anything interesting about your setup? Physical screens, Workspaces, 3rd party apps that control desktop, settings/profiles in Safari.
One thing that you can try is download Safari Technology Preview that will be installed separately from existing Safari. Then refresh list of browsers and try opening a link in Mail in Safari Technology Preview.

Hi, thanks for you reply! It was probably something wrong on my end. I managed to solve the issue by deleting the app, rebooting and installing it again. I also switched back and forth between Safari and Browsers as the default browser in the Safari settings and that also seemed to help. So all is good again. :-) Thanks for a great little app!

Today it happened again. When I chose Safari to open a link in an email, for example, the link would open in Safari but I was not 'taken' to Safari, so I remained in the mail app. But if I chose to open with Chrome, Brave etc, the app switched properly as well. However, I managed to fix it without uninstalling this time by just changing the default browser to Safari, close it, and then change it back to Browsers. Hopefully this can be a clue to what's going on.

Another question. When you pressed the link, did Browsers popup still appear?
And then after choosing Safari, Safari appeared behind Mail?
If it happens again, would be interesting to know what happens when you control+click on a link in Mail and select "Open Link". Also what happens if you choose "Open With" and choose Safari directly from there.
