beersmith-docker's Introduction

beersmith-docker

Scripts to run Beersmith 2.3 in Docker on Linux

Dockerfile

This Dockerfile was used to build the docker image.

There is no need to build the docker image yourself, you can just get it from the dockerhub repo by running beersmith2.sh

beersmith2.sh

This is the script you should use to start beersmith. The first time you run it, it will download the docker image. From then on, it will run it locally. The image is several hundred MB, so depending on your connection it could take a bit. But again, that's only the first time.

If you have docker installed, just run the beersmith2.sh script. It can be downloaded from github at bpeters504/beersmith-docker

beersmith-docker's Issues

Error running the docker

Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
20:23:04: Error: Unable to initialize GTK+, is DISPLAY set properly?
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

executing beersmith2.sh results in "Segmentation fault (core dumped)"

Problem occurs intermittently. If it happens keep trying and it will work.

Looks like some people see this without using docker as well according to this beersmith forum post

Expected behavior:
execute beersmith.sh and the application should start with the output in the terminal:

Checking for /home/bpeters/.beersmith2 directory
/home/bpeters/.beersmith2 directory already exists
02:44:15: SLib::Init - logging started
02:44:15: Debug: Failed to connect to session manager: SESSION_MANAGER environment variable not defined

Actual behavior:
execute beersmith.sh and get the output in the terminal:

Checking for /home/bpeters/.beersmith2 directory
/home/bpeters/.beersmith2 directory already exists
02:34:08: SLib::Init - logging started
02:34:08: Debug: Failed to connect to session manager: SESSION_MANAGER environment variable not defined
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
