What is BitZeny?

BitZeny is an experimental digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. BitZeny uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. BitZeny Core is the name of open source software which enables the use of this currency.

For more information, as well as an immediately useable, binary version of the BitZeny Core software, see https://github.com/BitzenyCoreDevelopers/bitzeny/releases.

License

BitZeny Core is released under the terms of the MIT license. See COPYING for more information or see https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT.

Development Process

The master branch is regularly built and tested, but is not guaranteed to be completely stable. Tags are created regularly to indicate new official, stable release versions of BitZeny Core.

The contribution workflow is described in CONTRIBUTING.md.

The developer Discussion forum should be used to discuss complicated or controversial changes before working on a patch set.

Testing

Testing and code review is the bottleneck for development; we get more pull requests than we can review and test on short notice. Please be patient and help out by testing other people's pull requests, and remember this is a security-critical project where any mistake might cost people lots of money.

Automated Testing

Developers are strongly encouraged to write unit tests for new code, and to submit new unit tests for old code. Unit tests can be compiled and run (assuming they weren't disabled in configure) with: make check. Further details on running and extending unit tests can be found in /src/test/README.md.

There are also regression and integration tests, written in Python, that are run automatically on the build server. These tests can be run (if the test dependencies are installed) with: test/functional/test_runner.py

The Travis CI system makes sure that every pull request is built for Windows, Linux, and OS X, and that unit/sanity tests are run automatically.

Manual Quality Assurance (QA) Testing

Changes should be tested by somebody other than the developer who wrote the code. This is especially important for large or high-risk changes. It is useful to add a test plan to the pull request description if testing the changes is not straightforward.

Translations

Changes to translations as well as new translations can be submitted to Bitcoin Core's Transifex page.

Translations are periodically pulled from Transifex and merged into the git repository. See the translation process for details on how this works.

Important: We do not accept translation changes as GitHub pull requests because the next pull from Transifex would automatically overwrite them again.

no sha256sum since 2.0.0

Hi BitZeny Devs,

I am writing here for the first time. I have a question. Could you make sha256sum? It was until v1.2.1, but since v2.0.0 disappeared. I thinks it is important thing ;)

Too slow RegTest

Describe the issue

Running RegTest is too slow because making 100 blocks for testing takes very long time during tests.

Can you reliably reproduce the issue?

If so, please list the steps to reproduce below:

  1. Build BitZenyCore with tests
  2. Run the test binaries

Expected behavior

Tests should be finished in human experimental time.

Actual behavior

Tests are still running after 24 hours.

What version of bitcoin-core are you using?

v2.0.x branch

v3.0.x branch should have the same problem also.

Machine specs:

  • OS: OS X 10.11.6
  • CPU: 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
  • RAM:16GB DDR3
  • Disk size: 256GB
  • Disk Type (HD/SDD): SSD

Any extra information that might be useful in the debugging process.

This is related to #19.

A 'sizeof' for a pointer issue

Hi all,
There is a sizeof issue found by Qihoo360 CodeSafe Team.
Details as bellow:

CDataStream ss2(SER_DISK, PROTOCOL_VERSION, intval, boolval, stringval, FLATDATA(charstrval), txval);

the argument of macro 'FLATDATA' is charstrval which is a pointer defined here:
const char* charstrval("testing charstr");

in the expand of macro 'FLATDATA' here:
#define FLATDATA(obj) REF(CFlatData((char*)&(obj), (char*)&(obj) + sizeof(obj)))

the parameter 'obj' will be used in sizeof operator.

do we really need the size of a pointer of should it be the size of the string (like strlen, or sizeof of a char array )?

Can you guys confirm this?

Cheers
Qihoo360 CodeSafe Team

Message about first block chain synchronization

Describe the issue

I would like to add the following message to getinfo output.

Only at the first startup.
It may take several days before block chain synchronization begins for the caching the block header hash.

Can you reliably reproduce the issue?

No.
This is my opinion about feature request.
I would like to discuss here.

Expected behaviour

Many comments from bitzenyd users arrived that "bitzenyd block chain synchronization is not starting on z 2.0.0."

Actual behaviour

After the hash cache is completed, bitzenyd blockchain synchronization is starting .
This is the correct behavior.

Therefore,
I think it is better to add Information the output of getinfo command.

What version of bitcoin-core are you using?

z2.0.0

Any extra information that might be useful in the debugging process.

It is better to replace the message deleted by #24

"deprecation-warning", "WARNING: getinfo is deprecated and will be fully removed in 0.16."
" Projects should transition to using getblockchaininfo, getnetworkinfo, and getwalletinfo before upgrading to 0.16"

This is my opinion about feature request.
I would like to discuss here.

Thank you!

It seems this problem appears to system with openssl version >=1.1.0 due to changes in BIGNUM function.

BTC-based message on RPC

Describe the issue

BitZeny daemon (z2.0.0) will send you deprecaution-message with BTC-based version.

Can you reliably reproduce the issue?

If so, please list the steps to reproduce below:

  1. Make sure you enabled JSON RPC
  2. Call getinfo
  3. Check $["deprecaution-warning"], you will see BTC-based warning

Expected behaviour

To be removed, or replace with BitZeny-based version.

Actual behaviour

See screenshots

Screenshots.
