Zabbix Plugin for monitoring Borg Backup
There are 10 Items:
There are 3 Triggers:
- Import template into zabbix server and configure hosts to use it.
- Deploy zabbix_agentd.conf.d/borg.conf to every machine, you want to use the template.
If you want to test it, use zabbix_get -s IP -p 10050 -k borg.status.
To let the template work, you must redirect borg output to /var/log/borg.log.
borg create --stats ... > /var/log/borg.log 2>&1
You can also use borgmatic:
borgmatic -c borgbackup.yml -v 1 --stats > /var/log/borg.log 2>&1
Second build a script to generate /var/log/borg.status like this:

- a cron job, which runs the script periodically
- as a second action after you run borg create (e.g. with
&&) - as a post run script in borgmatic
