Plex Pass

Description

The Plex Media Server enriches your life by organizing all your personal media, presenting it beautifully and streaming it to all of your devices. It's easy to use, it's awesome, and it's free!

Build notes

Latest stable Plex Media Server (Plex Pass) release from Arch Linux AUR.

Usage

docker run -d \
    --net="host" \
    --name=<container name> \
    -v <path for media files>:/media \
    -v <path for config files>:/config \
    -v /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro \
    -e UMASK=<umask for created files> \
    -e PUID=<uid for user> \
    -e PGID=<gid for user> \
    binhex/arch-plexpass

Please replace all user variables in the above command defined by <> with the correct values.

Access application

http://<host ip>:32400/web

Example

Notes

User ID (PUID) and Group ID (PGID) can be found by issuing the following command for the user you want to run the container as:-

id <username>

You cannot specify the port the docker container uses, it requires full access to the hosts nic and thus the -p flag is not used.

ffmpeg version error?

In 1.25.0.5246 ad 1.25.0.5220 when I try to transcode some content I see the following in the logs, and the transcoding fails.

I've fallen back to 1.24.5.5173 and it seems to work fine.

Is there an issue with the ffmpeg version included in the last 2 images?

Error while opening: libpython2.7.so.1.0

Not sure if this is the docker container or the PMS update. But i cannot get into my server settings after the update last night and the log is filled with this info complaining about a missing "libpython2.7.so.1.0"

Scanner is broken with Latest Plex pass updates

After updating to Plexpass versions 15.x the scanner would not function giving errors:

I am running in the binhex/plexpass docker (https://hub.docker.com/r/binhex/arch-plexpass)

Last tested broken build is plex1.15.1.707-1-01. Reverting to 1.14.1.5488-1-01 fixes the scanner issue.

File permissions issue with EasyAudioEncoder missing execute

I recently had a user report being unable to play media and found that any media encoded with the EAC3 codec could not be played.

After investigating the logs from the plex media server, I found it was doing exactly what this user reported here: https://forums.plex.tv/t/error-transcoder-ac3_eae-0x2fd4f40-eae-timeout-eae-not-running-or-wrong-folder/189917/68

The fix for me was to do a chmod 775 /config/Plex Media Server/Codecs/EasyAudioEncoder-1978-linux-x86_64/EasyAudioEncoder and playback worked again after doing that.

I'm wondering if we might be able to have the file permissions set in the dockerfile used here?

permissions issues unraid

Just started using this, I am noticing issues around make changes in the plex interface for example when adding a music directory, it keeps saying changes couldn't be saved but the plex is creating multiple music libraries.

then i cant delete the extras ones that have been created either.

I have left everything default for /config setting and added my own media directories in unraid.

i am hoping to move my setup there and this is the last hold up, I know you said deleting perms.txt does help fix this but I can't help but feel like there is a perms issue still here is how perms look on that directory now.

I looked through forums and saw your 2016 post about deleting perms.txt which i did but didn't help issue.

Which results in all kinds of issue when saving settings, it doesn't work the first time but does the second, creating of multiple directories ( I am only able to cause it with music).

i would appreciate the help! If I can get this sorted, would totally love to donate if you have pateron or something.

Premium Music not functioning

I have setup a premium music library (yes, plexpass) in latest version however agent does not link up and return any artist/album info. Album covers and Artist photos come through ok.
