Can the bittorrent protocol be extended to support something like this? As of now my understanding is that a torrent file will contain the checksums of the file pieces and can have a web seed url added as only a backup in case there are zero seeders.

But this feature is the opposite, a web seed url is known and the file's piece checksums are unknown so the torrent file needs to be built dynamically as the peices are downloaded from the web seed. This allows a malicious peer to seed wrong data because the lack of checksums in the torrent file.

So is there any use in building this feature in the bittorrent protocol? Maybe a separate tool would be better like yours.
