Updated Pages Lose Their "Place"

Greetings! I'm a website designer/developer. I use CMS Page Order to organize my pages into "categories" to make it easier to locate pages. In that sense, I'm using CMS Page Order not as a true CMS aid, but as a developer's aid. I create pages that serve as "grouping records" under which I place different categories of pages. For example, I may have a grouping page titled "communication" under which I place my "general contact form" page, my "request a service" page, etc. I give these grouping pages a "DRAFT" status because the red "draft" icon makes it easier to spot groups in my pages list. The draft status of this parent page does not affect the subordinate page's ability to be displayed.

The problem I have is that every time I update one of the group's subordinate pages, it relocates itself to the root page list, rather than staying underneath the parent (grouping) page, and I have to drag it back to the group from which it came. Is there something I (or you) could do so that updated pages remain associated (under) their parent page?

Thanks for your help!!

Scott :-)
