bbb-events's Introduction

BigBlueButton

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom designed to help teachers teach and learners learn.

BigBlueButton supports real-time sharing of audio, video, slides (with whiteboard annotations), chat, and the screen. Instructors can engage remote students with polling, emojis, multi-user whiteboards, shared notes, and breakout rooms. During the session, BigBlueButton generates analytics that are visible to moderators in the Learning Analytics Dashboard.

Presenters can record and playback content for later sharing with others.

We designed BigBlueButton for online learning, it can be used for many other applications as well. The educational use cases for BigBlueButton are

  • Online tutoring (one-to-one)
  • Flipped classrooms (recording content ahead of your session)
  • Group collaboration (many-to-many)
  • Online classes (one-to-many)

The latest version is BigBlueButton 2.7. You can install BigBlueButton 2.6 on Ubuntu 20.04 using bbb-install.sh within 30 minutes (or your money back ๐Ÿ˜‰).

For full technical documentation of BigBlueButton -- including architecture, features, API, and GreenLight (the default front-end) -- see https://docs.bigbluebutton.org/.

BigBlueButton and the BigBlueButton Logo are trademarks of BigBlueButton Inc.

Problems on 16.04/BBB 2.2

Hi,

This seems uninstallable on 16.04, due to the Ruby version, so I assume this will only be useful once 2.3 comes out with 18.04 as the base server. Only useable off server in BBB 2.2?

can you confirm it can't be installed alongside 2.2 and it's default U16.04?

Thanks
James

Please help / how to use it

Dear Fred,
I need to extract simple data about my meetings (attendee name, joining day/time, leaving day/time).
I understood that I have to use bbb-events ruby gem that has in it all the info I need.
But I'm not an expert with ruby and gems so I'm here to ask you if there is a guide on how to use it step by step to install it and to extract the data I need from events.xml file of my meeting.
I want to study and learn so I hope you can give me some advice to get through this.
Thank you very much for everything.
Riccardo

Could please help ?

Regards,

Add a Git workflow for release to rubygems

It would be great to have this fully integrated to so when a new version is released, the workflow builds the gem and pushes it to rubygems.

Update: It would be even better to do regular releases :)
