it seems optcont.pMin = -1.0, you should decrease it.

Doesn't seem to fix it?

using PseudoArcLengthContinuation, LinearAlgebra, Plots, PyPlot, Optim
const PALC = PseudoArcLengthContinuation

function f(x, alpha)
    [alpha + x[1]^2]
end

optnewton = NewtonPar(verbose = true)
alpha_min = -2.
alpha_max = -1.
out = [1.]
optcont = ContinuationPar(dsmin = 0.01, dsmax = 0.15, ds= 0.01, pMax = alpha_max, pMin=alpha_min, newtonOptions = NewtonPar(tol = 1e-9))
br, _ = continuation(f, out, alpha_min, optcont, plot = true, plotSolution = (x, p;kwargs...) -> (plot!(x; ylabel="solution",label="",kwargs...)), verbosity=3)

Thank you!

This line should be

# condition for halting the continuation procedure
@inline done(it::PALCIterable, state::PALCStateVariables) =
			(state.step <= it.contParams.maxSteps) &&
			(it.contParams.pMin <= state.z_old.p <= it.contParams.pMax) &&
			(state.stopcontinuation == false)

I will try to correct this asap. Is it blocking you in the mean time?

I see, the problem was that alpha_min was equal to the starting alpha. I can work around it, thanks for fixing it!

I pushed a fix yesterday so you can take alpha_min to be equal the starting alpha.

should I close it?
