Support placename markings in TEI

From [email protected] on May 23, 2012 10:31:19

Most likely to get the document composition site, from the colophon. Should come through into TEI. There are plenty of cases in which composition site differs from the origins of the people. So this implies that we may need assertions of origin on people (citations), unless and until we can get this from the documents.

A simple model presumes Oracc is generating these from ATF. Since this is unlikely at this point, need to create a subtask to recognize and enhance the TEI to mark up locations.

Support nickname assertions

From [email protected] on May 23, 2012 10:50:34

Kind of like name variants, but tied to individuals in at least some cases. So can normalize to another name, and can also indicate a given person. Once we have a model for nicknames, then the assertion says that a given nickname actually applies to a given person. May have to consider different cases: 1) nickname is just like a diminutive for another name, and 2) nickname is tied to a Person.
Need to distinguish this from double names, where users can assert that a given Person had more than one name. May do this implicitly by asserting that two citations are the same, and code sees that there is no overlap in names.

Add assertions of attributes on citations

From [email protected] on May 23, 2012 10:39:26

This presumes some "vocabularies" of attributes, which must be extensible somehow. E.g., assert rank, social status, etc.? May need to think about the model of built-in features vs. extension features, so that we can have rules on anything without lots of special cases. note that int he general case, feature classes/types will be very corpus, era-specific.

Support assertions of activity in documents

From [email protected] on May 23, 2012 10:26:40

Allows user to "set" the name of the activity in a document. Should probably provide a list of existing activities, and allow them to add a new one. Must also be able to anchor the assertion, but DocIds should be more stable than element IDs. Can use the external P-number for now. Problem is that in the general case, a document can have multiple activities, so really must assert that a given activity has name "foo".

Clean up the wiki

From [email protected] on October 06, 2009 14:55:39

Replace the Contact list on the hom epage with a link to the contacts page,
and make that be complete and nice. Should probably rename to Team Members
or something. Later, can have an area for previous members.

Update the Roadmap to be real.

Move the "Background Research, Related Projects" to a separate page, and
link to it.

Think about order of content:
News, Intro, Roadmap, Team, Vision, Principles?
Need an FAQ.

Example Markup should probably go nearer the Arch info, etc. Probably not
on the home page.
