3d-printed reversed free reed pipe

General

This is a collection of FreeCAD files that will help you to 3D-print a part of a new type of organ pipe (the mechanism was patented in 1993 by Ernst Zacharias, Hohner), to be used with one or two piece(s) of tube.

Please start by adding the desired measurements into the spreadsheet. Then export the upper and lower part separately for printing.

The point of ‘pitch tester’ is having it easier to figure out which reed you hold in your hands. It works best using a reed a little bit lower (1-3 semitones) than the resonator. You probably only need one, or one per person (hygienic reasons).

There are flue pipes as well.

I'd be happy to hear about your instrument!

Versions

0.1 reed somewhere in the middle of the tube
0.2 reed at the end of the tube, blowing directly into the tube
0.3 reed at the end of the tube, traverse-flute-like

Guidance with small organ

Hi!

You said in the repo that people could contact you with questions, but i didn't see any contact info so i'll do it here :)

I'm planning on bulding a small (1.5 - 2 octaves, one rank) organ based on PVC pipes, and have tried to design my own mouthpiece for 1/2" to 1.5" diameter pipes, but haven't been able to get the sound i want from them (they are usually not as loud as the ones i've made out of wood in a similar size). Do you have any recommendation on which of your design worked best for pipes that size, and any tips on simple pitfalls when designing them?

What did you base the theory for your pipe calculator on? I'm allways looking for more resources to learn from

Any recommendation on which air pressure I should aim for (approximately)?
