CS2 Name Tag Tool

Rename items without the usual client-side limitations because I am seeing people buy items like this for stupid prices when they are just worth 1.99 USD.

Its a random guy talking about it to ohnePixel, I thought it was dumb and nothing special so made this.

Usage

Download NodeJS and install/update it (Version 18.0.0 or higher)
Download Git and install it
Open a command prompt and enter git clone https://github.com/BeepIsla/csgo-nametag-tool.git --recursive
Enter the just downloaded folder using cd csgo-nametag-tool
Download the required dependencies using npm ci
Close CS and close Steam
Run the program using node index.js
Follow the on-screen instructions
Start Steam/CS again and enjoy your new name tag
- You can use the Steam inventory on your web browser to check if it worked without constantly starting and stopping Steam.

Details

Always test with a Storage Unit first, you can rename them for free infinitely! I am not responsible for any lost name tags or reduced item value.

When you start the program you can choose two options:

Default Item: Default stock items such as a default AK-47 (Requires a name tag)
Normal Item: Any item you can see in your Steam Inventory (Requires a name tag unless its a Storage Unit)
- When entering the Steam inventory link for the item you want to rename go to your Steam inventory, find the item you want to rename, then right click -> Copy link address. You should now have a link similar to this: /inventory/#730_2_4287161377

If you wish to rename your items with special characters I recommend you use the File input method. When using the File input method a new file will be created called new_name.txt, open it in a text editor and write what you want. When you are done save it and press Enter in the console.

Note: When using the File input method some things are automatically removed or replaced. The \r character gets entirely deleted. All \n (New line characters) get replaced with whatever this means E2 80 A9 but it has the same effect as \n.

Problem when running node index.js

Been trying to change the name of my m4 using this, but this happens every time I try to run it.

Syntax Error when starting

When I type in "node index.js", this happens. I've tried with both 17.x and 20.x versions of nodejs. Tried on 2 different computers (fresh install of programs on 2nd). Pic is from the 2nd PC, the 1st PC had a lower version of nodeJS (it was working a few weeks ago), so I updated nodeJS (didn't work), installed to a different location, then tried a fresh install on another PC, following the tutorial you provided- to no avail.

`protobufs/csgo/base_gcmessages.proto` not found

When attempting to run the script after following the instructions, I'm presented with an ENOENT error, occurring at index.js:9:41

Not accepting item links

Got to the stage where u insert your item link, Tryied it, but it doesnt accept it. Used both my pernament and community ids and on multiple items.

Hi, the code does register my nametags in inventory but when it comes to using them it says I have none:

Is this tool still working on the recent version of CS:GO?

Problem when running node index.js

Doesn't start

When i run node index.js I get the following error:

Encounter Conundrum When Typing "node index.js"

I am wondering how to get out of this deep trouble... have already been encountering this for days and still no any recuperation occurring.

Unable to connect to CSGO backend after new stickers update (08/02/24)

It was working before the patch (tried it out 2 weeks ago)
since the patch its hardstuck without error msg
have noticed that it launched CS2 on the account that it logged in, but nothing happens afterwards.

How Exactly do the linebreaks work?

Ive been playing arround with this now and tried to rename a storage unit to this little ascii art (is this even possible):

Just converting this using the converter from the readme doesnt work, im guessing it doesnt add the linebreaks, so ive tried adding the E280A9 bytes to the end of each line, however this didnt change the outcome, ive also tried converting the bytes back to ascii resulting in this chars: â�© and adding them to the end of each line in the ascii art but this also didnt work. Im stuck right now and dont know how i would achieve this ascii art as a name, could someone help me?

Name with file?

It says find file new_name.txt and edit it but where is it? I've tried making my own txt file but thats not working either? Without the file method now you can't use the deagle spacers
