Strange translator's behavior

Hello. I'm trying to use the translator on the recent unity game called Night Call. It's build with 2018.4.3 engine version. All was done with default settings and with the same results on 3.7.0 version of the translator using BepIn or ReiPatcher.

  1. If you run the game with options set, for example, to en -> de translation it will create _AutoGeneratedTranslations.de.txt, ok. But if you'll change final language to any other, the translator will still use "de" file regardless of its name. Yes, you have to delete the file or move it from the translations folder, simple renaming doesn't work. Only after deleting it you can run the game and new file will be generated, for example, _AutoGeneratedTranslations.ru.txt.

  2. Some results in auto-generated translation looks different in different translation directions and it seems the translator even retranslate some string more than one time. For example, for main menu:

Without translator: QUIT
With en -> de direction: QUIT=VERLASSEN and __VERLASSEN__=__VERLASSEN__ string after that. In the game it will look like: __VERLASSEN__
With en -> ru direction: QUIT=УВОЛИТЬСЯ and no other strings. In the game it will look like: _         _ (game font supports cyrillic symbols by the way).

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Sprite Atlas

This issue may not have much to do with translation. But sometimes I'm using AutoTranslator for extracting textures (event cg), and recently I was unable to do that with another game.

I've learned that this was a case of using "Sprite Atlas" feature. Her it is explained:

Basically, a group of images with similar parts are sliced into fragments and then all fragments are joined into a single Texture2D. The resulting texture is pretty much scrambled. To load a separate image from it, the engine seems to be using Sprite element, which consists of metadata about which fragments to use and how place them near each other.

Maybe such Sprite Atlases will be a subject for translation in some games in future, but it looks unlikely right now.

Since there is a EnableSpriteRendererHooking option, I've hoped it would help. But it appears that to accomplish what I want, actual Sprite elements must be dumped. Any chance for such an ability?

dont work with Zombotron (game)

I dont know why dont work with the game Zombotron
Reipatcher load the plugin perfectly but when i open the pluguin console (alt+0) shows queued translation=60 but served translation =0
i installed same other games but in this one dont work

There a problem with bing translator sometime it translator and not translator. I have to keep restart the game to get bing translator to work.

Would it be possible to add support for ATLAS translator? I personally think it's translations are better than google translate's.

Way to override auto-translation of character names/proper nouns?

Pretty much as the title says: Is there currently any option to define certain sets of characters to always be substituted for the same string, overriding anything coming from the web-translation services?

A lot of the older, "classic" systems like TA, AGTH (I believe), and whatever combination of voodoo was tied together to make VNR let you set up some sort of dictionary file which would always supersede the automated systems and just swap the Japanese string for whatever other string you had set it to.

My reason for asking is that I'm currently playing a game with two main female characters by the names of 音瑚 (Neko) and 兎萌 (Tomoe), and the former is, seemingly at random, referred to as either Koutaro, Otome, Oto, Otoko, or Sound (Nothing like seeing a young girl referred to as Oto-chan (a 'u' short of 'Dad'), Koutaro (definitely a guys name) or Otoko (which just straight up means 'Man')), while the latter is always called Rabbit Moe, which is at least fitting, given that she is a bunny girl at a hostess club (and likely deliberate by the devs), and is the direct translation of those Kanji, but definitely not her name.

The specific combination of Kanji making up their names is rare enough to seemingly not show up anywhere in the rest of the script (They are not exactly the most common way of writing Neko or Tomoe), so this would be a perfect use-case for a simple replacement system... But, as far as I can tell, there isn't one.

I retroactively made a custom translation file that fixes their names, but that only helps for textfield labels and other instances where the string matches exactly, not for instances of it being a sub-string of a line of dialogue. Am I just missing something obvious, or is this simply not something implemented in the XUnity.AutoTranslator?

Because other than that, it seems like an almost perfect implementation of a machine-translation system for Unity games, lightyears ahead of what older systems with similar objectives could do. It's just so smoothly integrated.

[3.6.1] substitution with english name in source and alt+r function

About substitutions.
For example we have next source-translation pair in cache: がんばれ、遥=Do your best, Haruka
This phrase can be used many times in game and with different name and if source all in japanese then substitution rule 遥=Haruka will be working with がんばれ、{{A}}=Do your best, {{A}} but if name in source will be on english then substitution rule Haruka=Haruka will not be working with がんばれ、{{A}}=Do your best, {{A}} and がんばれ、Haruka will be translated as new.

Second thing is about alt+r translation reload from cache. After using this translation is becoming wrong for some record on current page. But this is minor thing because after page will be updated translation will become correct.

In all cases for tests was used v3.6.1 with Bepinex5 in com3d2.

Substitution mechanics doesn't look right

Thank you for implementing that feature, but now it doesn't look right. Because in AutoGeneratedTranslations file we now have both original and translated versions of a substituition as {{A}}, so it's very hard to manually edit the translation afterward (because you don't know what exactly substitution is being used in every case), only in real time. It will be better to create a static translation, for example:
In substitutions file: えっま=Emma
In translations file: 私わえっま=My name is Emma
instead of current: 私わ{{A}}=My name is {{A}}

Koikatsu AutoTranslator

bbepis can you update google translator because some word on koikatu make sense and some word don't make sense and I translator some word use google translator website.

Inconsistent/Temporary Translation

Hello, for some strange reason this plugin only temporarily translates my game. For example, in Koikatsu I'll enter the character maker and everything will be translated, and as soon as I exit the maker the auto translation ceases. Another example of this issue is when I enter the class selector, most of the Japanese text will have been translated, and when I've started the new game or if I back out to the main menu, the translation ceases and every piece of text is back to Japanese.
I've used this plugin before and I've never had an issue with it until now, after reinstalling Koikatsu. I appreciate any help I receive, thanks.

Chinese Translations

Does this even support Chinese translations?

In the config file i changed the fromlanguage code from ja to zh but all the translators are greyed out

To translate games into Unity (VN), we use XUnity.AutoTranslator-ReiPatcher-3.6.1.
There is a small request: is it possible to make the introduction of a password to the AutoTranslator folder, to protect the translation from being copied and edited by third parties?

Delay (Text with effects)?

Hi there, I noticed that the text is delayed when there are effects, although _AutoGeneratedTranslations.{lang}.txt exists. Any way to avoid it? (For redistributing)

AutoTranslator Add Feather to Enable and Disable "「 」" Setting.

I just notice that there is a different translator when you remove "[ ]" from dialogue in translate.txt

With "「 」"

Heya, sorry to bring this issue up again but would it be possible to add the feature to copy untranslated text to clipboard automatically as it appears in game? This would be very appreciated as the usual text hooking software(ITHVNR and agth) don't work with Koikatsu for some reason. Copying to clipboard would let people use translation software of their choice as Google translate alone is inadequate most of the time. Maybe there could be a toggle/config file setting for the automatic copying and a manual input to copy the latest text(in a dialogue window for example)?

Translation triggers after Text element is closed

In A-1 (started with --verbose) I'm seeing the following behaviour:

  • Text is created (no translation is triggered)
  • (time between is independent, tested [1s, 5s, 60s])
  • Text is closed
  • Translation is triggered immediatly afterwards

Reloading the same scene. Translation is now cached.

  • Text is created
  • Text is replaced by translation

I've tried a Manual hook (ALT+U) with the Dialog window ("BookManager") open without effect. So far I've implemented a few modifications to TraverseChildrenManualHook to understand the reason for this better but have no solution for now.

The translation is consistently triggered after the dialog box is closed.

Is it possible to integrate external fonts in the application when translating and how to do it. I understand it is responsible for "OverrideFont=" how to use it.

Problem with number sign in file path

A user in the Discord help channel had a problem where AutoTranslator wasn't working at all. The output log had the following lines:

[Error] [XUnity.AutoTranslator 3.0.2] An error occurred while loading types in assembly: BepInEx\Translators\BaiduTranslate.dll
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'BaiduTranslate' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

The file did exist at that location. I asked the user to removing the # symbol from the file path thinking it may be causing the error and the user reported it began working after removing the symbol.
