skeletyl's Issues

Compatibility with a regular pro micro

In the parts list it says that a elite c is needed to build this keyboard, but a regular arduino pro micro would work? Without any modifications or light modifications? If any modification is needed, how one would make those modifications?

Thanks.

V4

In progress.

Improvements:

  • same screw and thumb cluster placement as charybdis nano, to be able to reuse the tent
  • replacement of the thumb keys so that the cluster fits better
  • thumb cluster a bit higher and closer, like on the cnano
  • make jack hole larger like on cnano

Heat set insert clarification

Build list mentions "M4 screw insert, M4 X D6.0 X L5.0" but the link supplied shows 4mm length. Also measuring the supports in the printed case show them to be 4mm length as well. Should these be 4mm or 5mm long?

Spatial dimensions?

Could you please provide the spatial dimensions of the finished build (keycaps on)?

Reason: I have a below-table keyboard slot of 11cm height, which is perfect for my conventional keyboard (Cherry peaking at ~4.5cm), but might be tight with a Skeletyl (+ fingers). It's arguably simpler for you to measure it than for me to test print a mockup just for height fitting. Also, I'm not holding out any hope for tenting.

Question: Why not combine the main PCB with the Thumbs PCB?

Is there any negative effects from doing so? It seems a lot cheaper to order PCBs this way, since the main PCB has a very big unused area in the bottom right corner, so replacing that with the Thumbs PCB will only add ~7.7 mm to the combined outer dimension.

Possibility of adding case variant for hotswappable mcu

Thanks for open sourcing the case! As the mcu hotswap spacers are slightly taller than their non hotswap variant, the USB-C cutouts do not line up correctly when used with a hotswapped mcu.

Is it possible to request for a case variant with repositioned USB-C cutout to fit a hotswapped mcu?

Blackpill Build details

What is the difference between the blackpill case and the normal case?

Will an adapter board be created for the blackpill?

What are the suggested print settings for the organic tent? Does it require support material?

Love this keyboard! Thanks for open-sourcing all the hard work of your designs.

3x6 version

Can you create a version with 6 columns? I'm building the Charybdis 3x6 mini and would love a matching one w/o the trackball on the other side.

Question on mounting the Elite-C using the 3D-printed shield adapter

Hello, first, thank you for designing this awesome keyboard! I'm about to start building it and decided to go for handwired approach since it is difficult to get flexible PCB here, and while I mostly get the gist of the building process so far, there is something that still lost to me. Specifically, regarding use of printable shield adapter from Geoff, since I am still unfamiliar with 3D printing in general.

This may seem mundane, but with the 3D-printed adapter, how am I supposed to mount the Elite-C to it? In the Dometyl repository, it is stated that I can solder around or glue the components to it, but I am still a bit lost about the exact process. Say that if I am to use solder to "lock" the Elite-C to the adapter, since it is 3D-printed, will it be possible for the process to accidentally melt the adapter and mess up both the printed adapter and the Elite-C? Or if the glue approach is better, what kind of glue that is safe to use, and at which spots should they be applied to?

With the use of the adapter PCB, I understand perfectly well the process (i.e. the soldering), but it is difficult to find local PCB manufacturer in my place that can print using 1mm PCB, hence why I'm considering to go for the printable shield adapter instead.

Thank you!

OLED Display Support

Hi,
Thank you for your great work, and thank you keeping it opensource and providing regular updates.

Are you in the future (or currely by the user) possible to add 0.91 OLED display (128x32)?

If you are planning that is great or not then I need some advice. If you had to put where would you plan to do it? I am thinking of the gap on the both side of keyboard but angle differently so that it is easy to view.
