For the following services, move configurations to spring cloud config. There is a local version of this in local-config-server that needs to be updated with the latest configurations for the following repos

• Use managed identity and service connector for the following services

• There were some issues provisioning ASA via biceps in deploy folder that needs to be revisited.
• azd could be a potential alternative, if it becomes available soon.

Property configure Spring Cloud Gateway and Eureka service discovery for the following services

• Custom containers on port 1025 are not starting for frontend and python services when deployed to ASA standard

Plan to add docs on how to add and utilize Istio with Red Dog.

There are important files that Microsoft projects should all have that are not present in this repository. A pull request has been opened to add the missing file(s). When the pr is merged this issue will be closed automatically.

Microsoft teams can learn more about this effort and share feedback within the open source guidance available internally.

Complete workshop content (workshop folder in docs). This will be across many topics to allow people to learn about key cloud native topics.

Planning to use challenges/exercises with hidden solutions in markdown. Some examples already in place.

Currently secrets and passwords are gathered by the script and stored in a ConfigMap.

We could make an add-on script that would move the secrets to Key Vault. There are implementation differences between AKS, ASA, ARO, etc. We could also add managed identity where possible.

I suggest we don't add it to the main script, but as an add-on script or document for simplicity.

Instead of having Spring Cloud dependencies for Ingress Gateway and Traffic Management, leverage Istio's Traffic Shaping features and add corresponding manifests:

• Ingress Gateway instead of Spring Cloud Gateway
• Virtual Service and Destination Rules instead of Hystrix
• Service discovery and configuration externalization is achieved through k8s objects such as ConfigMaps and Services
